Ok. Here are the rules for movement for characters and monsters. For heroes the movement speed of each is as follows:

Assassin. Speed 10
Sage. Speed 8
Bowman. Speed 8 (12)
Monk. Speed 10
Cleric. Speed 6
Hero. Speed 6

Speed is movement on 1" normal mini type maps or graph paper. Movement is more like "Descent" in GD. You may move diagonal and may move past enemies with no penalty. You may not move through enemies. Basically, make it simple. When in doubt favor the moving character.

Speed also determines range for "attack any" or "attack all" abilities.

For example, a monk moves his 10 squares but is 10 squares shy of an enemy. He may declare who he is attacking within his range. If he qualifies for his "drunken monk" attack he moves next to that enemy and dishes out the damage. Any other attack on his card misses. He is allowed to heal himself if he qualifies even though he is out of range for an attack. The Cleric follows the same rules and may roll an attack to attempt heal even though he is out of range. Characters do not have to be in range of the Cleric to receive a heal (the party must be engaged however in a battle to attempt a heal). A "god kill" roll would also move him next to the enemy and slay the beast removing the beast from the board.(note: a Hero or Cleric may attempt a God Kill at their range even though they have no ranged attack)

(special rules): the bowman's speed is 8 giving her a range of 8. This is her range for her basic attack. She is the only character who has range for a basic attack. All of her "attack any" abilities have a range of 12.

Note: use common sense for attack any abilities and movement. A drunken monk moves next to the enemy because it is a hand to hand attack. An arrow does not move you next to the enemy as it is a missle.

The sage has a special rule for "chain lightning". Chain lightning has a range of 8 to the first target. A range of 8 to the second target from the first target. A range of 8 from the first or second target. A range of 8 from any of the previous targets.
If only 1 target qualifies in range, that beast takes x4 damage. If 2 targets, each takes x2. If 3 targets, 1 takes x2 and the others x 1 Sages choice. If 4 targets each takes x1. Chain lightning MUST attack as many monsters as possible up to 4 targets within range.
