FYI, the Buy-It-Now option has been removed.

As soon as the first bid is placed, the buy-it-now option is always automatically removed I believe.

I don't think this is always true. I recently purchased a DVD set. It had bids on it (but was not up to the reserve) and I "won" by choosing the Buy-It-Now option.

If there is a reserve, and the existing bids haven't met it, the Buy Now will remain. Once the bidding passes the reserve, the Buy Now will end.

I'm a little fuzzy on how eBay charges the sellers. Does it cost more to start an auction with a $1.00 starting bid to have a $50 Buy-it-Now option?

There's info on eBay fees at http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?type=4&cam...

You'll need to click on the Buy-it-Now link to display the fees for that feature. The feature costs from $0.05 to $0.25, depending on the price setting. For a Buy-it-Now of $50.00, it would cost $0.25. This is on top of the insertion charge and the final value charge, which are calculated independent of the Buy-it-Now fee.

So the short answer is, in this case, it costs a quarter more to put Buy-it-Now on this auction item.

Hot Deal? What's the big whoop? I've seen unpunched copies go for less than $50. This is NOT a rare game...though it's a good one.
