We've played this a few times now (see Roy's account in sessions "Oops"), and there's nothing to stop you designing your own Nation cards. Thus:
Spain. Requires 1 worker, may borrow $5 each time this power is used. Use loaded markers to indicate each bond issued. Can not win unless bonds are repaid or defaulted (free actions). Default costs 10VP, repayment costs $6, $6, $7, $7, $5 thereafter in that order per bond - reflecting market panic then ECB help.
Socialist Republic of Merseyside. Can choose Red, Blue or Purple pieces first (football teams, civic colours). For 1 E may use Ferry Bombs; can load a bomb for free onto the Mersey Ferry for delivery down The Ship Canal.There's 2 ferry boats, so this can be done twice.
Can imagine the non-Brits being confused by that one, but it gives Maria and me a chance to play our own countries. If anyone tries them let me know how they rate, I think Merseyside is a weaker power (but it does get the Red bits), and Spain needs fine tuning. And I'm interested in any other countries you invent (Mordor, Ankh-Morpork, The Empire, Hogwarts, The UN, BGG?).
Saw the prototypes at BBGcon this weekend at Minion Games Booth...they look nice!
I demo'd the game on Friday and subsequently bought it and the Nations" expansion.
I look forward to this expansion as well!
