Wedge Antilles + R2D2 + Proton Torpedoes + Squad Leader
Dutch Vander + Proton Torpedoes + R5-D8
Biggs Darklighter + R5-K6 + Proton Torpedoes

THe match started out fast and furious with Vader scoring two hits on Biggs in the second round destroying his shields in one swoop. Most of the imperial forces focused their fire on Biggs and took him out on the third turn while Backstabber got behind Dutch and severely got into his shields. The rebels were realing with only two ships but Wedge was an offensive force, swopping around the battle dinging two hits at a time often.

Dutch found himself in major trouble with Mauler Mithel at range one in front of him and Backstabber behind him with no shields and 1 hit already on him. He had Vader in his target lock, proton torpedos ready to fire, but would he get a chance to fire? Mithel fired first scoring 3 hits with 4 dice but he managed to duck out of the of one. Backstabber unleashed his attack for 2 hits. Dutch's evade failed and he went down with his finger still on the trigger to fire those torpedoes. It was all up to Wedge, with not an imperial ship downed but several badly damaged...

Instead of trying to manuever away, Wedge made a daring move directly into a swarm of 3 TIEs taking out Mauler Mithel but losing both of his shields in the process. Wedge then proceeded to do severla green manuevers in a row, allowing R2-D2 to regenerate a shield each turn. THe imperials managed one hit each turn, mainly due to some bad strokes of fate. Meanwhile Wedge was evening the odds. He managed to pick off two of the Academy Pilots who had previously taken 2 damage.

It was now Vader, Backstabber and Academy TIE against Wedge who had been amazingly resilient. It looked like the imperials were closing in on wedge when Vader made a fatal mistake. A slight miscalculation on a turn resulted in Vader banging into Academy Pilot leaving him without his two actions. Wedge took advantage by target locking and unleashing his proton torpedoes. He scored 3 hits and Vader was not able to evade the barrage taking Vader out for good.

Now it seems that Wedge had the advantage against a wounded Academy Pilot and Backstabber. He immediately turned his focus on taking out the Academy Pilot and did that the next turn. This allowed Backstabber to flank Wedge and get a take a good shot. He scored two hits including a crit that caused all turns to be considered red manuevers. This didnlt end up being enough to keep Wedge down. He continued using R2-D2 to regenerate shieldsand then did an unexpected Immelman turn giving him a range 1 shot and blowing away Backstabber for the improbable come from behind victory. Like the rebel alliance itself, victory came against very long odds.

Lessons Learned
1.) Wedge + R2-D2 is an absolute beast! It seemed like a sure Imperial victory but since they had a hard time scoring more than 1 hit each round, due to bad rolls on two attack dice. R2-D2 kept regenerating shields. Imperial attempts to get to range one ended up with a lot collisions, wasting their actions.

2.) One miscalculation can be the difference in the game. If Vader hadn't bumped into one ofthe others ships, he could have had an evade and a focus which would have kept him alive and likely kept the victory on the imperial side.

3.) Imperials are in big trouble when the numbers are no longer largely in their favor. Once Wedge started picking guys off, it became even harder to score more than one hit per round.

Poor Biggs. Destined to almost always get shot down first.
