I'm getting close to finishing a project I started thanks to Tom sharing his mission template with me. Of course by finish I mean unleash so people can play test it and tell me how bad it sucks from a balance standpoint.

This package will be a campaign of 8 linked missions with rules for playing it as a campaign, or you can just play the scenarios one off if you would like.

I'm no photoshop expert so making the cards, and ship tokens etc are taking some time and not exactly looking as good as they could.

The campaign will revolve around Rogue squadron and their mission after the rebels left their base on Yavin 4 and headed for Hoth. I'm not a Star Wars historian by any means but I'm trying to deliver a story here for my daughter for when we play as opposed to set up some ships and shoot each other.

I'll update this thread as I go if there is interest but here is the squad list for this campaign.

Luke Skywalker Commander - core set
Wedge Antilles 2nd in Command - X-wing expansion
Wes Janson* - Included in package to print out
Derek Klivian* - Included in package to print out
Zev Senesca* - Included in package to print out
Rogue 1 Malek - Uses red squadrons ship card
Rogue 2 Kendar - Uses red squadrons ship card
Rogue 3 Kindar Vie - Uses red squadrons ship card
Rogue 4 Kali Vie - Uses red squadrons ship card

Here is an image of one of the cards.

Looking and sounding good to me.

If you need a hand making pilot cards, I can toss them together for you - just shoot me a mail message with the name, stats and ability.

You may also want to add the dot in front on Wes' name to indicate he is a unique pilot.

Good point about the dot I will get on that.

I responded to your email. Take a look at what I sent and we can talk more. Really appreciate the offer.

For what it's worth, I'm also in the process of making card 300dpi card templates, which should make custom cards easy to make!

Thanks everyone I am play testing missions 1-3 tomorrow night I hope. Here is a short summary of those 3 missions.

Mission 1 - Morning CAP: Wedge, Kindar and Kali are on morning combat air patrol when they pick up a distress signal which turns out to be a Imperial trap. The good news is the Imperials set their trap up in an Asteroid belt not expecting Rebels but smugglers. The Rogue's must stop the Lance frigate before it can power up and make it's way out of the belt to send word.

Mission 2 - Escort Duty: Luke, Wedge, Wes and Zev were dispatched to escort a JV-7 Escort shuttle on it's way back from a scouting mission. The shuttle had suffered some damage in a skirmish and lost most of it's turbo laser batteries. When the Rogues arrive all Chaos has broken loose. The JV-7 is under attack from a heavy Tie squadron and an Interceptor IV class Frigate. The shuttle contains valuable information to the Rebel fleet and must escape.

Mission 3 - Rescue Mission: A Y-Wing has been disabled in a nearby sector. Rogue Squadron has been dispatched to provide escort as a CR90 Corvette arrives to take the Y-wing and it's pilot into tow. A medium Tie squad is in the area hunting for the disabled ship.

Here are some of the non miniature ships that will be in the scenarios. I'll show the rest as I get further along.

Oh and FWIW this is all from my working document. My wonderful wife is proofing everything for spelling, grammar and all the other stuff I am too lazy to care about.

Zev Senesca's ability is a little ambiguous. You're not saying that you actually spend the Target Lock, nor what happens to the second die. All the other cards that use Target Locks state, "Spend your target lock." Change it to something like this, "You may spend a target lock to change two focus results into one critical hit and one blank." The 'instead of re-rolling' isn't necessary, since you are spending for the dice conversation.

Wes Janson's ability is a little ambiguous as well. What does 'attacked from the front' mean? Anything past the model's base? Anything in the X-Wing's firing arc? Maybe you should follow Back Stabber's text and make it something like, "When being attack from inside your firing arc, regardless of the range, roll an additional green die."

Thanks for the feedback it's noted. Most of these things are explained in the document for the campaign but you're right it's better to be clear on the card.

Cool looking stuff... But shouldn't a Corvette have a hell of a lot more firepower than that? That's not even as powerful as an X-Wing.

I fixed that for you. I agree with shnar's comments. While I didn't catch the semantics of Janson's card, Zev's card screamed at me.

Also... why have the qualifier on Janson's card

"When being attacked from inside your firing arc, roll 1 additional agility die"

should be sufficient. Yes, most of the others of similar abilities specify ranges, but that's because they are limited. Why clog up the text with something unnecessary.

Well, it was the first thing I asked, but I guess you're right, if they aren't within range they cannot attack you, so it's a moot point. Janson's card specifically is what does in front of you mean? Is it just the 90 degree firing arc? Or is it 180 degree "in front of" the figure's base? etc.

Yes.

However I am trying to make this playable as well so some bending of the numbers is required. Play Testing some of this tonight so we will see what happens.

Sorry for not answering. I appreciate all feedback but at the end of the day I am making this to play with my daughter.

Anyway in the rules the way it is now it's 180 degree. I'll be play testing this tonight with some people so we will see how it works. Nothing is set in stone.

Some of the pilot abilities have more to do with the narrative than anything else. Like the brother and sister pilots that are minor players. He protects her at all costs etc.

"Regardless of range"
Is that green die the range 3 green die, but now gotten also at range 1 and 2, or is it an extra green die, making you roll two extra green die total at range 3.

I would leave out the "regardless of range" statement.

Well for those who care play tested mission 1 tonight and it was too much in favor of the Imperial player. Essentially the Lance Frigate is too devastating for the 3 X-Wings to deal with while dodging the number of Ties I put against them.

This was compounded with shitty die roils from the Rebel player and a few other factors.

I'm going to make some edits to the scenario and then try to play it again or find some people to play it for me and report results.

Go ahead and click the Red "X" at the top of the forum to flag it, and choose "Wrong Forum." A moderator should stop by soon to move it to Variants.

Yes it is in the works I've got 3 more missions to get play tested and then proof the whole thing for spelling and grammar.

However I'm not sure it will fly being posted here at BGG. I borrow a lot of mission details from the Star Wars universe and I don't know if that is going to float here.

My goal is to have it done by the middle of April.

Why wouldn't that be okay? You're not selling it.

In talking with some other people I heard files were not approved because of licensing. I'll try uploading it when it's done and we'll see what happens.
