Just curious what people's thoughts were? Is one enough?

One is enough to build almost complete 4 default decks. Asumming you will have 2 decks (non-default), it should give you some flexibility.

On the other hand, it will not hurt you if you buy even 3 core spell tomes - you will have only few (less than 10) cards more than you need, if you want 4 copies of given spell in both books.

On the third hand - there will be some expansions and I assume, they will add some copies of old spells in them and in the future, multiple copies of CST will be to much.

Thanks! Now I just need someone to let me know a good binder option that isn't the ones on Arcane Wonders.

Yep, especially for other components (action markers, spellbooks, etc) for a more than 2 player game.

I think buying two of the base set is much more cost effective as well. You get tons of cards and then you can sport a 4 player game as well with all of the various components.

If you can afford 2-3 core spell tomes, just buy the second set.

I'm starting to get confused. Right now I plan on this mostly being a 2p game. Do I need to buy spell tomes, another whole game, or will just one base game be enough? I probably won't play 4 until the 4p expansion comes out.

Thanks.

If you're going 2 player and you don't mind swapping some spells, one core set is all you need. But if you want to have all 4 mages ready to go, I'd suggest at least one Spell Tome as well.

I'm pretty sure something to allow for 4 players is in the works.

I'm fighting the urge to buy a spell tomb lol

I will probably play this with 3/4 players so having the common cards seems like a must but then with a pool of 300 cards I reckon I could muddle through.
