Many people dislike the rule that requires ALL aircraft of a particular type to take-off, drop tanks, and land on the same turn. The solution to this is to account for the activity and airtime of each individual unit. This can be a lot of work, but there are to relatively easy ways to do it.

I’ve found that the easiest way to do this is to photocopy the Order of Battle card and cut-out the individual units to be used as markers. A homemade turn record sheet with larger squares makes it easy to move the unit markers around to track the airtime of individual units.

Alternatively, there is an Excel spreadsheet in the Files section of the BGG page for the original Avalon Hill Luftwaffe game. It uses as check box format to track airtime
