So far, my games have been very finely balanced. I think we've had a 50% win rate for each side. The pace of the game is really on the onus of the Invader, so my suggestion is that the stronger/more experienced players play that side. The Defender has to be able to quickly react to the Invader's plans as they progress.

I haven't played with the battering ram yet, so I can't help you there.

which version of the game do you have?
Is there a difference between the versions ?

I've got the Valley Games edition, which I believe was the last printing.

Funny enough, a few weeks ago I played a game as the Defender. My opponent had the battering ram. I managed to pull out a win, but it was down to the wire.

EDIT: I don't remember what the differences are between the editions but I remember reading another thread answering that. You may have to dig a little to find it.
