This was my first game played with my 80% complete Avengers conversion for Castle Ravenloft. I’m referring to the game as The Starstorm Imperative.

The concept- a massive alien ship has crash landed in the Mojave Desert. Various groups have descended upon it to raid it of its advanced weaponry- Hydra, A.I.M, and a Skrull sleeper cell. Ultron made it there first.

Adventure or "Issue" 1 is based on Escape the Tomb.

A lone Hero investigating the crash site is subdued by the ship’s Security Droids. Regaining conscious deep within the ship, the Hero staggers into the Control Room to find Ultron, surrounded by an impenetrable force field. The Hero must attempt to escape and warn the other Avengers before Ultron finishes downloading the ship’s schematics and turns its attention on them.

Setup’s the same however a Control Console tile is used in place of Strahd’s Crypt and a Hull Breach tile is used in place of the Secret Stairway.

I went with Hulk as my Hero- cuz he’s the strongest one there is! Hulk’s patterned after the Fighter.


Hulk

Enraged (Utility Power)- Use this power when you take damage. Regain up to 3 Rage tokens.

Unstoppable Fury (Utility Power)- Use this power at the start of your Hero Phase. You regain 1 hit point. You may spend up to 3 Rage tokens to regain an equal amount of hit points.

Thunder Clap (At-Will Power)- Attack one Foe within 1 tile of you. You may spend a Rage token to deal +1 damage. Attack: +8 Damage 1

Foot Stomp (At-Will Power)- Select a tile within 1 tile of you. Attack a Foe on that tile. You may spend a Rage token to attack an additional Foe on the selected tile. If any Foes survive the attack, place them anywhere on their tile. Attack: +8 Damage 1

Hulk Smash (Daily Power)- Attack each Foe on your tile. For each Rage token you spend on this attack select an additional tile adjacent to your tile and attack each Foe on it as well. Attack: +6 Damage 2



Instead of Treasure cards I made Reward cards- My starting Equipment (Item) is a Blink Grenade- Use this equipment during your Hero Phase instead of attacking. Choose a tile within 1 tile of you. Place each Foe on the chosen tile on a tile within 3 tiles of you.

Turn One:

Hulk- HP: 10 / Rage Tokens: 3 / Healing Surge: 2 / XP: 0 / Equipment: Blink Grenade / Download @ 1

Hero Phase- No action.
Exploration Phase- Draw tile. White square (I used Avenger symbols. Black symbol in white square replaces the white triangles. There’s an arrow on the end of the A’s cross bar that serves as the triangle point.) Download @ 2.
Draw Foe- Security Droid.
Villain Phase- Security Droid attacks with a Shocking Tether: Roll 3 +6 = 9 Result: MISS



Turn Two:

Hulk- HP: 10 / Rage Tokens: 3 / Healing Surge: 2 / XP: 0 / Equipment: Blink Grenade / Download @ 2

Hero Phase- Hulk attacks Security Droid with Thunder Clap: Roll 12 +8 = 20 Result: HIT Damage: 1 Security Droid defeated. Reward Card= Recovery (Immediately flip up a used power or regain 1 HP. Hulk’s at max so it’s discarded). Hulk moves 4 squares to an unexplored edge.
Exploration Phase- Draw tile. White square. Download @ 3.
Draw Foe- Skrull Trooper.



Villain Phase- Skrull Trooper moves to Hulk’s tile and attacks with a Disruptor: Roll 19 +7 = 26 Result: HIT Damage: 1

Turn Three:

Hulk- HP: 9 / Rage Tokens: 3 / Healing Surge: 2 / XP: 1 / Equipment: Blink Grenade / Download @ 3

Hero Phase- Hulk attacks Skrull Trooper with Thunder Clap: Roll 19 +8 = 27 Result: HIT Damage: 1 Skrull Trooper defeated. Reward Card= Omnitool (+4 bonus to disable traps). Hulk moves 3 squares to an unexplored edge.
Exploration Phase- Draw tile. Black square. Download @ 3.
Draw Foe- Another Skrull Trooper!
Villain Phase- Encounter Card: Trap! Laser Web. Skrull Trooper moves to Hulk’s tile and attacks with a Disruptor: Roll 3 +7 = 10 Result: MISS. The Laser Web trap activates: Roll 20 +6 = 26 Result: HIT Damage: 3 (ouch).


Turn Four:

Hulk- HP: 6 / Rage Tokens: 3 / Healing Surge: 2 / XP: 2 / Equipment: Blink Grenade, Omnitool / Download @ 3

Hero Phase- Hulk attacks Skrull Trooper with Thunder Clap: Roll 12 +8 = 20 Result: HIT Damage: 1 Skrull Trooper defeated. Reward Card= Close Call (Counts as 1 xp). Hulk moves 3 squares to an unexplored edge.
Exploration Phase- Draw tile. Black square. Download @ 3.
Draw Foe- Adaptoid! (Now A.I.M.s getting into the act).



Villain Phase- Encounter Card: Trap! Plasma Jets. Adaptoid has a special ability, when he comes into play he duplicates one of the active Hero’s At-Will powers. He attacks Hulk with the Hulk’s Thunder Clap: Roll 11 +8 = 19 Result: HIT Damage: 1. The Plasma Jets trap activates and deals 2 damage (uh oh).

Turn Five:

Hulk- HP: 3 / Rage Tokens: 3 / Healing Surge: 2 / XP: 4 / Equipment: Blink Grenade, Omnitool / Download @ 3

Hero Phase- Hulk uses Unstoppable Fury and spends 2 rage tokens to regain 3 HP. Hulk attacks Adaptoid with Thunder Clap: Roll 16 +8 = 24 Result: HIT Damage: 1 +1 from a spent Rage token. Adaptoid defeated. Reward Card= Security Monitor (Use during Hero Phase instead of attacking. Reveal the top card of any card deck or top tile of any tile stack). Hulk moves 4 squares to an unexplored edge.
Exploration Phase- Draw tile. Black square. Download @ 3.
Draw Foe- Dreadnought (Got just the thing for him).
Villain Phase- Encounter Card: Event-Attack! Mind Scan. Attack: +9 Damage: 2 (A Hero hit by this attack can flip an unused Daily power over to prevent this damage). Roll 7 +9 = 16 Result: MISS. Dreadnought moves to the Hulk’s tile and attacks with an Electric Field: Roll 20 +8= 28 Result: HIT Damage: 2 and SLOWED.



Turn Six:

Hulk- HP: 4 / Rage Tokens: 0 / Healing Surge: 2 / XP: 7 / Equipment: Blink Grenade, Omnitool , Security Monitor / Download @ 3

Hero Phase- Hulk uses his Blink Grenade and moves the Dreadnought 2 tiles away (the Dreadnought’s patterned after the Gargoyle. It does nothing if you’re too far away from it). Hulk moves 2 squares because he’s slowed, then discards puny condition marker.
Exploration Phase- Can’t explore.
Villain Phase- Encounter Card: Environment: Gravity Engines (Each Hero’s speed is reduced by 1). Hulk amused by subtle irony.

Turn Seven:

Hulk- HP: 4 / Rage Tokens: 0 / Healing Surge: 2 / XP: 7 / Equipment: Omnitool , Security Monitor / Download @ 3

Hero Phase- Hulk moves 4 squares.
Exploration Phase- Draw tile. White square. Download @ 4.
Draw Foe- A.I.M. Agent (Hulk smash yellow bucket head)!



Villain Phase- A.I.M. Agent attacks with its Warp Gun (If it hits it deals damage and moves the target a tile). Roll 6 +7 = 13 Result: MISS.

Turn Eight:

Hulk- HP: 4 / Rage Tokens: 0 / Healing Surge: 2 / XP: 7 / Equipment: Omnitool , Security Monitor / Download @ 4

Hero Phase- Hulk moves 3 squares and attacks A.I.M. Agent with Thunder Clap. Roll 16 +8 = 24 Result: HIT Damage: 1. A.I.M. Agent defeated. Reward Card= Second Wind (Immediately regain 1 HP or flip up a used power. Hulk regains a Hit Point). Hulk moves 4 squares to an unexplored edge.
Exploration Phase- Draw tile. White square. Download @ 5. Ultron’s task is finished and he’s on his way!
Draw Foe- Hydra Agent.
Villain Phase- Ultron moves 2 tiles! Hydra Agent attacks with his blaster. Roll 8 +9 = 17 Result: HIT Damage: 2. Hulk uses Enraged to regain his Rage tokens ‘cause it looks like he’s going to need them.



Turn Nine:

Hulk- HP: 3 / Rage Tokens: 3 / Healing Surge: 2 / XP: 9 / Equipment: Omnitool , Security Monitor

Hero Phase- Hulk moves 1 square and attacks the Hydra Agent with Thunder Clap. Roll 5 +8 = 13 Result: MISS
Exploration Phase- Draw tile. Black Square and a dead end!
Draw Foe- another Hydra Agent.
Villain Phase- Encounter Card: Environment: Life Support (Alien Life Support that is! Alien Foes gain a +2 bonus to their attack). Ultron moves 2 more tiles! Hydra Agent 1 attacks. Roll 6 +9 = 15 Result: MISS. Hydra Agent 2 attacks. Roll 1 +9 = 10 Result: MISS.

Turn Ten:

Hulk- HP: 3 / Rage Tokens: 3 / Healing Surge: 2 / XP: 9 / Equipment: Omnitool , Security Monitor

Hero Phase- Hulk moves 4 squares and attacks Hydra Agent 1 with Thunder Clap. Roll 13 +8 = 21 Result: HIT Damage: 1. Hydra Agent 1 defeated. Reward Card= Transmuter (Use this equipment when you would draw a Reward Card. Regain 1 HP instead of drawing a reward). Hulk moves 4 squares to an unexplored edge.
Exploration Phase- Draw tile. Black Square.
Draw Foe- Piledriver! (The Wrecking Crew’s in there, hired by A.I.M. for additional support).
Villain Phase- Encounter Card: Event-Attack! Flash Freeze. I spend 10xp to avoid it. Ultron moves 2 more tiles! Hydra Agent 2 attacks. Roll 6 +9 = 15 Result: MISS. Piledriver charges me. Roll 9 +7 = 16 Result: MISS.

Turn Eleven:

Hulk- HP: 3 / Rage Tokens: 3 / Healing Surge: 2 / XP: 1 / Equipment: Omnitool , Security Monitor, Transmuter

Hero Phase- Hulk moves 4 squares and attacks Piledriver with Thunder Clap. Roll 2 +8 = 10 Result: MISS!
Exploration Phase- Draw tile. White Square.
Draw Foe- Skrull Warrior.



Villain Phase- Ultron moves and now he’s on the same tile as me! Hydra Agent 2 moves. Piledriver charges me. Roll 3 +7 = 10 Result: MISS. Skrull Warrior attacks (which is bad since he has a chance of slowing me. Not a good thing right now) Roll 5 +9 +2 for Life Support Environment card = 16 Result: MISS!

Turn Twelve:

Hulk- HP: 3 / Rage Tokens: 3 / Healing Surge: 2 / XP: 1 / Equipment: Omnitool , Security Monitor, Transmuter

Hero Phase- Now Hulk angry! I use Hulk Smash with 2 rage tokens to target 2 adjacent tiles as well.
Hulk attacks the Skrull Warrior. Roll 19 +6 = 25 Result: HIT Damage: 2. Skrull Warrior defeated.
Hulk attacks Piledriver. Roll 14 +6 = 20 Result: HIT Damage: 2. Piledriver defeated.
Hulk attacks Ultron. Roll 12 +6 = 18 Result: MISS
Hulk attacks the Hydra Agent. Roll 17 +6 = 23 Result: HIT Damage: 2. Hydra Agent defeated.
Instead of drawing a reward I use Transmuter to regain a Hit Point. Hulk moves 4 and...
Exploration Phase- Draw tile. White Square. He’s found the Hull Breach!
Draw Foe- Security Droid.
Villain Phase- Ultron attacks! Roll 14 +8 = 22 Result: HIT Damage: 2. Security Droid attacks Roll 1 (Ha!) +6= 7 Result: BIG MISS!

Turn Thirteen:

Hulk- HP: 3 / Rage Tokens: 1 / Healing Surge: 2 / XP: 8 / Equipment: Omnitool , Security Monitor, Transmuter

Hero Phase- Hulk moves onto the exit. He uses Thunder Clap on the Security Droid. Roll 12 +8 = 20 Result: HIT Damage: 1 Security Droid defeated. Instead of drawing a reward I use Transmuter again.
Exploration Phase- Can’t draw a tile.
Villain Phase- Draw an Encounter card and wince- Event-Attack! Stasis Field. Roll 3 + 7 = 10 Result = MISS! Ultron attacks! Roll 13 + 8 = 21 Result: HIT Damage: 2.



Turn Fourteen:

Hulk- HP: 1! / Rage Tokens: 1 / Healing Surge: 2 / XP: 8 / Equipment: Omnitool , Security Monitor, Transmuter

Hero Phase- Hulk crawls out of the Hull Breach and into the Mojave Desert ! He made it- barely...
Even he knows when it’s time to gather the earth’s mightiest heroes.

Avengers Assemble!
