Another day, another diabolical scheme from that mad genius, Baron Blade. Can the heroes shut down his crazed plans before his Terraluna impulsion beam destroys the earth?
Fight Baron Blade in Megalopolis with any 3 heroes
For this battle I pick three favourites: Wraith, Unity and Legacy.
Things start well, with all three heroes getting good engine-building starts. Both Legacy and Wraith are using two powers a turn with the Legacy Ring and Utility Belt, and Unity is steadily getting Mechanical Golems into play, including a Swift Bot early on.
Blade does not take things lying down though; he dishes out significant damage with a couple of Slash and Burns and Devious Disruptions in rapid succession. I gamble that I can take the damage, and opt to keep my Ongoing and Equipment cards. Paparazzi and Impending Casualties also serve to slow the heroes down.
Wraith gets on top of the Environment deck whilst steadily chipping away at the Baron. Unity, once she gets up to speed, is a damage monster. In the final round, with Baron Blade newly flipped to Vengeful Mad Scientist, she has seven Golems in play, including two Raptor Bots, and with Legacy’s buffs dishes out a total of 26 points of damage.
Wraith follows up with a buffed Razor Ordnance, and the Baron goes down. The heroes know they’ve been in a fight though; final HPs are Legacy 7, Unity 5 and Wraith 7.
Baron Blade’s plans are thwarted, but he’s a slippery customer. He evades capture and flees in a one-man gyro-copter, swearing immediate and devastating revenge. Before he can be pursued an explosion rips through the city, followed by the sound of screams and gunfire. It sounds like the financial district is under attack! And as if that were not enough, an emergency broadcast is received; the daughter of the mayor of Rook City has been kidnapped by a costumed lunatic.
The heroes have only one option; they must split into three teams. Select three teams of 5 heroes each, team A, B and C.
So now the tough part: knowing what lies ahead I need to build three teams that are versatile enough and balanced enough to cope with each foe and environment. After a fair bit of head scratching I settle on the following.
Team A jet off to track down Baron Blade: http://boardgamegeek.com/thread/867472/the-liberation-a1-dea...
Team B investigate the explosions: http://boardgamegeek.com/thread/867495/the-liberation-b1-day...
Team C head to Rook City:http://boardgamegeek.com/thread/867514/the-liberation-c1-a-k...
