Hello, I am looking for some good strategy games. I play Risk already but I am craving some variety. I love planning things out and the struggle for power in Risk. I enjoy it when some diplomacy is involved in the game. I usually only play 2 player Risk games, as there is no one around to play most of the time. I dont really like extremely simple games (checkers, and such) I like actually having to take some time to learn the rules.

Thanks in advance,
Keith

If you love Risk. and are looking for more depth, than I suggest Conquest of the Empire from Eagles Games. The components and bits are superb. My friends and I enjoy this much for the replaybility, every new game is different and applying the same tactics every game will not work, so every game is a challenge to be the winner.

I was surprised nobody mentioned Struggle of Empires in all of those geeklists!
A Great game, and I think it would fit your criteria very well!

Try a Risk Varient like 2210 AD.

Attack with the Expansion is not bad either. Some friends of mine that are RISK fanatics fell in love with this one.

Another great option would Memoir '44 or perhaps Heroscape.

For something heavier try Bonaparte at Marengo.

LIVE FREE! PLAY WELL!

As mentioned earlier, some of the Risk variants might be what you're looking for. You might want to try Risk: Lord of the Rings Trilogy Edition. Excellent for 2-4 players.

A terrific game, but I don't think it would be the best choice if he's only going to have two players.

Keith, you might try Europe Engulfed. I think it's easier to play than the length of the rulebook might have you believe.

Plus, you should be able to find many opponents if you use the iEE program to play it online.

I would recommend:

Axis & Allies Revised (AH)
Axis & Allies Europe (AH)
Axis & Allies Pacific (AH)
Shogun (MB) oop
Fortress America (MB) oop
Napoleon in Europe (Eagle) oop
Twilight Imperium III (Fantasy Flight)
Conquest of the Empire (Eagle)
Star Wars: the Queens Gambit (AH) oop
History of the World (AH) oop
Memoir 44 (DoW)
HeroScape (MB)

All these games are fairly easy to learn and have fun pieces to move around. Some are out of print but easily obtained through Ebay.

Hi, Well Guys Board Games has all sorts of brand new strategy games. For pure strategy - Delta PI 7 (a space age chess variant), The Hermit Game (a monopoly like game with strategy mixed in with slight chance), Fishing tournament (knowing where and how to fish with slight chance), Multiple Mutations (killing of mutations and men while getting yours into your pit), and Pirate's Treasure (the one by guy homen with moving sharks has allot of strategy in it). My recommentation is any or all of these games for you they are low in price, are very strategic, and are collectors items because of the very limited editions. Look them up in the quick search on this boardgamegeek.com site and /or email me at bayareaggg@hotmail.com for more info.
