Im looking to knock up a nice PnP set of The Duke and fancy using some clear stickers on some nice wooden tiles.

Anyone know where i can get a stack of something like 1.25" wooden tiles (ideally not ply or MDF) on the cheap in the UK?

a) Try searching for "wooden craft shapes" or similar, there are lots of suppliers online. Such as these guys:

http://craftshapes.co.uk/item_square_2_5cm.htm
http://craftshapes.co.uk/item_square_3_8cm.htm

Or these guys:

http://www.woodcraftshapes.com/wooden-squares-triangles-oval...

Both of whom I think I've ordered from before but can't remember for certain.

b) If you're not happy with those prices, then I wouldn't count out ply so quickly. There's crappy B&Q ply which is to be avoided, but if you can find a local supplier of birch ply, it's actually pretty decent stuff and finishes fairly well.

Have a look at this alternative

http://www.plasticsforgames.co.uk/en/en_prod_counters.asp

Do not be put off by them being plastic, if you click on one of the cube sizes it will bring up an image of what the cubes look like and although I have never used them they do look quite good.

The problem with Plastics for Games is that they're really geared towards commercial purchases - there's a minimum order of £100. If you're planning on buying £100 worth of plastic squares then it's fine, of course!

I know you said ideally not MDF, but have a look at www.warbases.co.uk as they may have something you can use.

Otherwise, good hunting!
