Thanks for this! I have yet to go to a Spiel, but I'd really like to especially since I have a friend that lives nearby who I'd love to meet in person. But things like money and anxiety get in the way.

So it's nice for those of us who can't attend to get a little taste of Essen.

Below a very brief summary of my Spiel'12 experience so far. For everyone, but especially those there, tips are much appreciated!

Played:
- Tzolk'in (interesting mechanics, quite slow game, got the hang of it)
- Ragami (new idea (for me), not finished yet)
- Karnag (tough to fathom, but got the hang of it, looks like fun)
- Pax (not my cuppa)
- Slavika (bought)
- Zombie Dice (contemplating buying)
- Shadows Over Camelot (strong memory aspect of the card game did not appeal to me)

Bought:
- Spank the Monkey + Monkey Business (a tenner)
- Slavika (fun new filler)
- Autokrator + Mini expansion (theme + artwork + price = couldn't resist)

Looked at & interested (hope to play on Saturday):
- Cavemen playing with fire
- Seasons
- Goblins Inc
- Rattus
- Voluspa

Still on my to see & do list:
- Libertalia
- Tokaido
- Mage Knight
- Brawling Barons
- Revolver (or Bang)
- Terra Mystica (at that price: must play before I pay)
- Lyssan
- Evolution

Looked at & not interested (might play on Saturday):
- Clocks (artwork did not appeal to me)
- Moongha Invaders (see below)
- Asgard (artwork did not appeal to me)

Disappointed:
- Terra Mystica (Sold out at 11 o'clock on day 1.)
- Ragami (Wonderful artwork on the box but disappointing in-game artwork, game interesting, mechanics need tweaking. Movement of angels unclear and the role of the demons not worked out well-enough, for instance.)
- Slavika (Essen explanation was not only lacking, was simply wrong)
- Moongha Invaders (Sat down but nobody came to help)
- Block (could not find them)
- I can never squeeze all that into one day... soblue

Looking for: (HELP APPRECIATED!)
- Dixit (Odyssey) for a good price (= 20 ish euros?)
- Tsuro for a good price
- Dragon's Gold for a good price

Saturday (group of 5):

Played:
- Libertalia (not too sure about it, but it is fresh and looks ok)
- Seasons (looks beautiful, interesting mechanics, I was not thrilled about the lack of interaction between players)
- Mage Knight (Wow. Wow. Wow. A must have)
- Zombie Dice (bought and played two more games at home)
- Out of Gears (very interactive filler. Lots of fun) (bought by three of us)
- Voluspa (great filler)
- Diavolo (fun quick game)
- Dobble (fun quick game) (bought by a friend)
- Quarriors (seemed not like fun at all)
- Ark (poor explanation by the designer (took far too long), but game bought by a friend, seems interesting)
- Cavemen playing with Fire (bought by a friend)

Bought:
- Rattus (+ 2 expansions)
- Octi (played this two years back, was a fiver now.)
- Out of Gears (+ 3 free mini expansions)
- Zombie Dice

Looked at & interested (hope to play someday):
- Goblins Inc
- Tzolk'in (need to play again before I make up my mind)
- Tokaido

Still on my to see & do list:
- Brawling Barons
- Revolver (or Bang)
- Terra Mystica (at that price: must play before I pay)
- Lyssan
- Evolution
- Legends of Andor
- Qin? (looked at it, got a brief explanatin, but it didn't grab me)

Looked at & not interested:
- Metro 2033
- Blackrock City
- Dungeon Lords

Disappointed:
- Found a Dixit (base game) for 23 euros, it was sold out when I was browsing the shops in my last 30 minutes (my fault, I know) to take it home.
- Finally got to play Voluspa, liked it a lot but it was sold out.
- Pioneer Card Game (Asian) was unavailable.
- Had to wait quite a while to be able to play Seasons (Asmodee was busy all day!)
- Quarriors. Had expected a lot. Got...disappointed.

Looking for: (HELP APPRECIATED!
- Dixit (Odyssey) for a good price (= 20 ish euros?)
- Tsuro for a good price
- Dragon's Gold for a good price

We were the first group (of three/five). I was one of the two not playing but asking questions and enjoying the mechanics a lot. And yes, thank you! Now I need to try and get my hands on a cheap copy in English.
