Hello,
I've loved Boardgames since I was very young, and now I'm trying to introduce my Girlfriend to boardgames.....
I'm looking for games which are good playing only 2 persons that are simple and funny, in order to make my girlfriend play.
I don't mind the theme of the game, i accept all the suggestions!!
And I'm looking also for games to play on my own, solitary games....I've bought on eBay Chainsaw Warrior from Games Workshop, and I'm waiting to receive it (I love many Games Workshop's games...)
I hope my english is not bad at all and you can understand me!!
Thanks for your help!!

Oceania (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/14017) is pretty good, both as a solo game and as a 2 player game. It's not all that 'funny' though
The Kosmos line of 2 player games is pretty good too. Check out the ones on this list for example: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist.php3?action=view&listi... (Lost Cities is commonly known as "the Girlfriend game" and I can also recommend The Reef. Heave Ho is quite funny, but it's not a great game... Balloon Cup might be more up the right street, but I haven't played it.)
If you're after a BIG adventure type game that plays solo, then I can personally recommend Arkham Horror (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/15987) which plays with 1 upto 8 players.. not sure if you'd be able to persuade your Girlfriend to ever play it though.

My wife also enjoys Lost Cities.
She also likes Carcassone Hunters and Gathers, and Carcassone the castle even more.
Your English is great, sooooo much better than my Deutsch.

I'll second Lost Cities and Balloon Cup. They're the only 2-player games I can get my wife to play. Off the top of my head, you might want to try Travel Blokus, Odin's Ravens, and Mystery Rummy (either #1 or #3). I haven't played Jambo yet, but from what I've heard that might work as well...

My wife and I play a lot of games that are either 2-player or have a 2-player variant.
Lost Cities is a fun quick 2-player game that is light.
Carcassonne is fun with 2 players and can be really quick. We usually include the builders and large followers from one of the expansions.
Ticket-to-Ride is fun and plays with 2 players. It's more fun with 3 or 4, but it's still fun for the two of us to play. We can knock this one out in 30 minutes.
We also enjoy playing Puerto Rico 2-player variant.
And we play Power Grid as a 2 player game. That has some nice depth to it and sometimes we play 2 games in a row.
We also play Alhambra with 2 players and that's fun.
I own and have played both Oceanic and Ent Decker and still prefer Ent Decker, but still prefer the games above for 2 player.

Lost Cities, Ticket to Ride, Odin's Ravens, Carcassonne, Knizia's Samurai and Ingenious all work well with 2 players, and are all good games for non-gamers. Ingenious can be played as a solitaire too. Tikal is a good game as well, but bit longer to play, which sometimes is a problem with non-gamers.

My wife loves Lost Cities, you must try it. And, the last game we enjoyed both was Bakerstreet. (it's not easy finding games that my wife like because she is not really a gamer)
And about solitaire game, well, you can try Island Of D http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/18246 and Island Of D 2 : the Shadow Of Dawn http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/19212 (and both are free )
Cheers !

A good but not so well known 2-player game is SpiderTwist:
http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/20036
It is very clever and the theme and mechanics blend really well. It comes in a small DVD size case which is a plus as you can carry it in your pocket.
The downside is that you will have to order it from Germany.

Guillotine is funny. Phoenix and Kupferkessel Co. are both excellent two player games with easy to learn rules.

It's worth looking at some of the geeklists tagged as solitaire: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist.php3?action=viewtagged...
or those with solitaire in the title: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist.php3?action=search&sea...
or solo in the title http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist.php3?action=search&sea...
Of course there's a lot of games to trawl through on those lists, so a couple of personal recommendations would be:
Arkham Horror (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/15987) - excellent solo play, but rather big AND time consuming and perhaps not value for money IF you're only ever going to play it solo.
Lord of the Rings (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/6352) - technically not solo, but it's a co-operative game, so can easily be played solo.
Advanced Heroquest (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/1758) - an old dungeon crawl that included rules for solo play, which I've played a few times... I've even used the solo rules with my brother for a two player co-op version, which worked really well. This one will be an ebay job though.

I've downloaded the rules resume for Lost Cities and the games seems very simple....is that game fun at all??
If I've understand it well, you only have to open expeditions and adding one card echa turn to one expedition.....Am I right??
My girlfreind now plays with me Wings Of War!!! I can say that this game is a great game, I'm loving it, and we have to introduce little by little the advanced rules

Wow (no pun intended!) - if you can get her playing Wings of War, the rest should be easy!! (Memoir 44 is another war themed game that ladies have been known to play, but my wife wont go anywhere near it!)
As far as Carcassonne goes, you'll get a load of replies back, all suggesting their particular favourites. I've played all of them (as I'm sure have others) and they all have their own little nuances (=small differences) and twists. I still come down to the original, because you can add bits or not as you see fit. Both the Inns & Cathedrals and Traders & Builders are worth it, I'm less sure on the others, but they're small and the prices are ok. Ark of the Covenant is probably my second favourite as it simplifies the farms in a nice way. Hunters and Gatherers (Green Carc) is a nice stand alone game too. I would say they are all very enjoyable and which you will like best is probably personal taste.

Thank you Tom!!
Yes, yesterday we have played Wings Of War with all the advanced rules minus the rule for altitude. Two friends of us came around and we played two against two, we had a reat time!!
Perhaps I'm very lucky and y can introduce my girlfriend little by little to more complicated boardgames
What's sure is that she doesn't like to prepare the game berofe playing (preparing a deck for card games, or an army for wargames like wh40k).
So I will have a look to Carccassone, and I will look other games, because I don't know many more.
Thank you all for your help!!

It depends on the Game. Lost Cities has no language-dependent parts. Odin's Ravens has some text on the "Odin" cards. Which games are you considering that are German versions?

I can also say that my husband and I both enjoy playing Lost cities. It is a fun game and very replayable. We enjoy Carcassonne: the Castle, which is a game that is designed for 2 players. We also really like Blokus/travel blokus, both can be played with 2 or you can play travel Blokus against yourself for a solitaire game. Give those a try.

Hello again people!!
I've bought some new games, and we are enjoing them a lot.
These games are abalone, Lost Cities and Odin's Raven.
Now I'm thinking in buying some games more....but I want to know if the language is a problem or not, because I will probably buy them in Germany...
1. Jambo: I've downloaded the spanish help and I think we can play without problems....
2. Starship Catan
3. Settles Catan Cardgame.
4. Babel
5. Hera & Zeus
6. Kahuna
7. The Reef
What would you recommend me and which of these games are easy to play although they come in german??
Thanks!!

Here are some of my favorites.
Memoir 44 - Easy to learn and play. One of the better 2 player games. http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/10630
Runebound - My favorite game. Plays well with 2 players and is playable solo. If you'r interested in Talisman this is also a great option. There is now a 2nd Edition of this game, do not get 1st Edition as the recent expansions do not mesh well at all. http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/9829
Duel of Ages: Worldspanner - My other favorite game. This one is a blast. Imagine Spartacus chasing down Annie Oakley on his bicycle, while shooting a submachine gun at her, only to get roasted alive by her hidden flamethrower! Scenerios like this happen all the time. It can be a bit heavy for beginners though since there's a lot to learn and remember. Plays well with 2 or more players, but not so great solo. http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/6050
Arkham Horror - Someobody already mentioned this one, and I agree. Great game.
