Lately I am playing the new iteration of X-COM Enemy Unknown. While I still prefer the deep equipment section the original had, I enjoy even this one.

So question myself: why there is not an official X-COM boardgame/miniatures/wargame series?

I think it would be great!

Earth Reborn reminds me of x-com. No aliens, but the feel is similar.

There are some web published games here...X-Com: Tactical

I just finished X-Com for PS3...I loved it, but too easy compared to the original. I haven't tried the multiplayer yet.

Tactical:
For some reason I keep thinking of Neroshima Hex mechanics as a viable platform for simplifying (or boardgamizing) X-Com...

Strategic:
Target Earth does a descent job of covering the basic strategy. A must for X-Com fans...

Target Earth is based on XCOM, but while the theme comes through a bit, the components are not really good and neither is the game
