Dear Ravensburger,

It has come to my notice that you are harassing game developers for using the word "Memory" in the name of their memory games. (http://www.geek.com/articles/games/apple-asks-developers-to-...)

Memory is a generic term, and a memory game is a very generic concept. Even with your long and remarkable history, which no doubt mattered for the development of memory-type games, you would be fools to assert ownership to either the word or the idea.

So kindly cease and desist from this arrogant and abusive practice. No, you will not be sued for it (not by me anyway) and maybe you will even succeed in harassing some small developers. However, the gain from that will be negligible compared to the cost to your good name and reputation for such an act.

That is not a cease and desist letter to Revensburger. It is a forum post. On a site that Ravensburger is not affiliated with. If you want to get a message to Ravensburger, you may want to try contacting them on their own website.

Heh, funny thing is that the article linked above complains about the fact that a simple word can be trademarked... words like... "Apple"? And no one complains about that one; strange.
