You're gonna have to be a little more specific than that. What do you want, a thematic adventurous game or a strategic economic game with resource management and engine building or a cardgame or a wargame or a 30 minute party game or a 6 hour cutthroat stockholding game or......

The site is full of them. Please try to be more specific: what games do they like? What games do they not like? Are the experienced gamers? How many people? etc., etc., etc.

Here's a helpful list in which people suggest good gateway games (games that are good for getting people into boardgames who aren't already much involved in the hobby): http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/9937/gateway-board-gam...

Hi Mike. Welcome to the friendliest online community in the world. After all, it's about games.!

Moshe is right: you'll get a much better response if you clue the recommendation audience in to what you're looking for. So any hints as to your preferences is a good thing.

Now, if you have no idea about even what preferences you might have. Then tell us a little about games you have played in the past and whether or not you like them--and even better, some detail as to what you liked/disliked about those games. This will give us an idea as to where you stand in terms of game complexity and so on.

If you haven't played any games, I guess you could tell us a little about yourself and your interests or other hobbies that might translate.

Once again, welcome! I look forward to your response to get your BGG activity rolling.

What Shane said. Apologies if I sounded like a prissy ass, I was actually giving a somewhat neutral statement that came off sounding annoyed. There are too many types of games and too many types of gamers (and gamers usually evolve) to give you a "buy this, it's fantastic" recommendation.

Having said that, if you want a good game with some good levels of strategy and great gameplay that evokes the theme but is not overly difficult to learn, have a look at Lords of Vegas. It's a combo Monopoly/Settlers of Catan killer, IMO.
Excellent review: http://boardgamegeek.com/video/3309/lords-of-vegas/dice-towe...

Welcome to the site!

Do you have any ideas of games that you think you might like? Maybe there are some games you've heard of and were curious about?

Also, how many people will be playing? There tend to be games that are really good for specific numbers of players?
