I'm looking for a game that has much use of animals but isn't a kids game.

Agricola

Or its little sister, Agricola: All Creatures Big and Small, where "animal husbandry to other stuff" ratio is higher.

Thanks for all the very quick suggestions.

I'm really looking for a game that has a high amount of strategy and that would probably be too advanced for children. Therefore zooloretto, Animal upon animal, and other such games are not on my radar.

Can anyone think of any others?

Then it's definitely Bunny Bunny Moose Moose. It is highly strategic to know when to put out your tongue, when to be a bunny or when to be a moose.

Because you only have two animals in the race, and the position of your last animal defines if you win or not (first animal breaking ties), it's definitely too advanced for children.

i have to say, zooloretto can have strategic depth beyond childrens games. though you can voluntarily dispens with the backstabbing.
Agricola has adult strategies also concernign animal husbandry. the moorbauern expansion expands on that with horses and fewer planting.

targui, imho, takes the cake. though the animals here are more a commodity.

Fiese Kühe is quite tactical.
Childres like the cows and it is recommended by the publisher from 8 years up, but you fave to make a lot of right decissions to succed in this game.

Monkey Love is a party game prototype about reaching the pinnacle of the mating heirarchy in a group of jungle primates.

...but maybe this isn't exactly what you meant in that thread title!

Hey! That's My Fish is inexpensive, quick (approx 20 min), easy to play, and fun. Adults and children love this game.

Graduate from Zooloretto to O Zoo le Mio. The box art may be a misdirection. The gameplay may be deceptively simple ... at first. There is competition within.

Amazonas has a colorful theme, but may not fit under the "much use" of animals clause ?
