Anyone (who has played and likes this game) have experience with the Mass Attack game mode as a solo?

Is it worth getting this for the solo play only?

I love this game - but I've never played solo.

I wouldn't think it would work. It has 'simultaneous reveal' of manuevers, so part of the play is 'guessing' your opponents move.

I haven't read through the rules yet, but based on my skim I'm guessing the base-stars or battlestars have a pre-programmed cannon blast.

Regardless... it looks fun, so I'm going to try to score a copy.

It's one of the best space combat games I've ever played.

Both Top Gun (http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/6766/top-gun) and the Last Starfighter (http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/9569/the-last-starfighter...) are based on the same system.

Hmm... I didn't know about Top Gun. I really, really have my heart set on BSG (I'm a sucker for old school BSG in concept, if not in execution), but if I have to, I'll settle with Last Starfighter.

Does Top Gun have a solo mode? I'm not sure thematically how that would work.

Don't get me wrong - BSG is VERY cool. The others came later and expand on the number of manuevers vehicles can use. They're just different variants based on the same system.

Actually, I think Top Gun *does* have a solo mode, but it might be from a magazine article instead...

I think BSG is the father of later and more complex FASA games as Aerotech.
