I need a FAMILY game for 2 players. Now most of all we play Kingdom Builder and Quarriors! So, it must be an easy game with playing time about 30-60 mins.

I want a "bigger" game, not a filler..
and this may be the game for more players, but it just should be good for two.. as Dominion, for example.
What can you say about The Castles of Burgundy for 2?

Castles of Burgundy is a great game but I've never tried it 2 players. I'd suggest picking it up and giving it a try. In the end you'll still have a great game even if it doesn't meet your two player needs.

Other options I'd suggest are:

Perry Rhodan: The Cosmic League
it's a nice pick up & deliver Space game with a small bit of inter player conflict.

Empire Builder
or any of the crayon rail games in that series if you enjoy the idea of building a network.

A Few Acres of Snow
if you like deck building and don't mind a direct conflict war game.

The below games are ones that I enjoy playing with 2.

Ticket to Ride: Nordic Countries
Plays 2 beautifully, can be cutthroat.

On the Underground
Best with 2 IMO.

Finca
Very good with two.

+1 Takenoko

+1 Finca

Neuroshima Hex (Kind of complicated to learn, boyish theme)

Yomi (A bit harder to learn and totally worth it)

Arena Roma II (Too hard to find though)

Jambo (Super filler)

Innovation (Not a filler and tougher to learn. The best.)

Seasons (Hey this just came out and it is fun. 2.8 weight.)

Portobello Market (Nice little quick game)

Great games, all with different aspects that would make for a good family game.

Nexus Ops has the most direct conflict but the pieces look great if your family likes sci-fi and games don't last as long as RISK (well, older versions of RISK).

I gotta also include Lords of Waterdeep and Alien Frontiers if you enjoy worker placement games like Stone Age.

I absolutely love Flash Duel for 2 players, or even up to 5. It's with the same characters from Yomi and Puzzle Strike, also two amazing games, though PS you need to have at least 3.

A lot of great games suggested above, BUT many of them WILL go over 30-60 minutes....

My suggestions would be Airlines Europe, and I would reinforce also the suggestion for Glen More and Pandemic. All are NOT fillers yet are easy to play, finishes at around the 45-60 min range, and all scale well from 2-5 players (Pandemic can play 5 if you have the expansion, which is highly recommended).

Perry Rhodan looks nice..
I like deck building, but my game partner doesn't.

I took out the games I have no idea of and crossed out the games that either are terrible with 2 or are good, but are significantly improved with more and you can get much better games in the 2 player range

Some heavier suggestions:

1.Village: 60 min. Nice and ellegant game with a bit of Agricola taste. Less fiddly, less complex than Agric, but still with a good dose of strategy. We love it.

2.Glory to Rome: 60 min (2 player). Cardgame with role selection. Good alternative to Race for the Galaxy if you don´t like galactic theme or complex iconography. I can say it is very good with 2 players (although many folks say it's even better with 3/4).

3.1960: The Making of the President: 120 min. Card driven politics game with area control. Nice tension, interesting decisions, theme is really well integrated to the game.

4.Tigris & Euphrates: 60 min (2 players). Tile placing. I know I'm in the minority, but I think this game works different but it's still very good with 2 (less confrontational, more strategic). Different to any other game you can find.

5.Trajan: 60 min (2 players). My last hype. Simply awesome. It is great with 2-4 players. Very deep both tactically and strategically. Many paths to victory. If you don´t mind theme (nearly no present in this game), but loves deep thinking you can try it in www.boiteajeux.net.

I agree with Moe, but also know that Alien Frontiers plays well with 2.

Edit: Also I think that Glory to Rome plays extremely poorly with 2 players. Get Innovation, by the same author, instead.

Dungeon Petz works quite well with 2 players. It uses dummy imps to block off specific action spaces each round (but it does this very well). Don't be fooled by the cutsie artwork, though, because this is not a light family game. There are many rules, and the gameplay is quite complex (more so than Agricola, in my opinion). Having said that, this is a great medium-heavy worker placement game (with other interesting mechanics mixed in). Just know what you would be getting into.

I'm also going to throw down a vote for Glen More. This is a great medium weight Euro that works very well for 2 players. Its gameplay is simple enough to place it in the 'family game' category, but the strategy is deeper than it appears on the surface.

Lords of Waterdeep is light and works very well with 2. Should play in an hour or less. Scales very well up to 5 for when you get more. Very much a family playable game.
