There is a finansial crisis in Dominion... You should prepare the regular setup, exept for 3$ cards are taken away from the table. There are only 1$ and 2$ cards left in treasury. I think such a starting point will "force" the players for buying action cards more often, instead for just going for money...

Waiting for your comments.

The comments are already all over the place. Look for anything that addresses Big Money and how it fails to advanced play. See also many threads in this variant section about how you can't fix what isn't broken and more experience will make you a blah blah blah.

Irony aside, if there is a Transmute to buff, you're probably playing with expansions, which makes the whole issue of Big Money decks much less of an issue.

This sounds like a good way to slow the game down horrifically without changing the optimal strategy much.

Someone had a variant of shuffling the treasure/victory cards into the randomizer, and if you draw them you draw a new card and remove the pile. So if you draw gold, you don't play with gold this game.

So, how do you use Transmute or Explorer, Governor, or any other card that gains a Gold when Gold isn't on the table? Treat it as an empty pile "doing as much of the card's ability as you can" or do you get the card from ... off the table ... as the supply never really ran out? Did you intend to make such cards really lame by removing Gold? Right away, I'd never pick up Bag of Gold when winning a Tournament.

And if you are playing with just the classic box, Thief, Mine, Remodel, and Adventurer just took a huge dump. You got to think your variants through at least a little on your own, friend.
