of one counter you especially liked?

(Haha, I´m looking to pick up a copy of a game that has a Brasilian counter in its forces.)

While we wait for the Monday photo, please share your most ridiculous reason for buying a particular game.

Looks a nice reason to me to pick up it too...
What game is it?

I can't say I bought a game for one counter, but I suspect I have once I looked at the examples of pretty, pretty counters on the back of the box.

I will buy any game that has USMC Light Armored Infantry or Light Armor Reconnaissance counters. I bought one of the Lock n Load games because I saw the LAV counter on BGG.

I don't think I have...

BUT, I could see myself doing so. If any of the USMC squadrons I served in (VMA-332 and VMAQ-4) were represented in a game, I'd probably snatch it up, no matter what the game covers or how good it is.

Yes.

No, seriously, when I was in high school, my hometown did not have much in the way of wargames (it was a fantasy-fest). I bought a few just because they WERE wargames.

I've started down the road of "preventive buying", but so far only for games that are part of a series. It seems that the series games are the ones that become both most expensive and hardest to find after they go OOP.

Although it's limited only to series in which I'm actually interested. But I'll buy them even if I know I won't be playing them anytime soon. God help me if I just start buying up series even if I'm not particularly interested in the subject matter.

The clincher for choosing None But Heroes over Battle Above the Clouds was I liked the cover better. This despite the fact I have never played any LoB or its earlier incarnations and I really like the system for BATC. Go figure.

I bought Turning Point: Stalingrad because I thought the Stuka counter shown on the back of the box looked so cool. After eagerly opening the game, I found there was only one Stuka counter! Still, it's a great game.

I WANT IT
Then rationalize it however you need to:
It's an era/battle/mechanic/designer/series I've never tried.
It's an era/battle/mechanic/designer/series I have lots of.
It's got a vassal module so I can get more use out of it.
It doesn't have a vassal module so I can only play it if I buy it.
There's an online rulebook and I read it and liked it.
It looked really cool in Calandale's videos.
There's a great sale on/great deal on ebay.
It's ASL.

Perhaps my favorite counter from a wargame...

The Soviet Motorized Marching Band from Blood on the Snow: The Battle of Suomussalmi - gotta keep morale up in the frozen Finnish countryside!

Not a bad game as I recall, but the map really hurts your eyes after a while...

Surely no counter can beat L2DesignGroups's Bitter Woods "Fraulein" counter! The fact that it isn't used in the game is irrelevant!

Aren't there Brazilian counters in WiF ??? Perhaps you should P1000 with ADG for World in Flames: Master Edition. You should be able to move those Brazilian divisions in South America.

I've never bought a game because of a single counter. However, I am playing a game of The Devil's Cauldron: The Battles for Arnhem and Nijmegen because there is a Kampfgruppe Bruhn counter in it.
