Hmmmm - my "Hot 10" isn't in order of "hotness" or "heat" - it would be too much trouble to re-arrange every item when the list changes. And the "Hot 10" does change much more frequently than the "Top 10". So my list will throw these stats off balance, albeit by a very small amount!

There is the Personal Top 10 and the Hot 10. From which one did you collect his information?

Uh, is that a trick question? The title is "Top items from personal Hot 10s". It is from the p

ersonal Hot 10 lists.

Doesn't everyone use the Hot 10 option differently?

There is certainly some variety in how people use the Hot 10, but I think the vast majority of people fall into one of the following categories, or variations of them:

- Hot 10 are games being particularly enjoyed "recently" (months, typically)
- Hot 10 are highly anticipated games (planned purchase, or just high interest)
- Hot 10 are games occupying a lot of that person's current "mindshare" whether due to play, anticipation, or something else.

Obviously, someone can use it for whatever they want, but the tendency seems to be toward games with some heightened degree of currency (whether by play, purchase plans, release dates, BGG chatter, etc.).

but what is the purpose?

The same as all the other "Statistic of the Week" posts: To entertain and see some interesting stats from the BGG databse for interpretation and discussion as people see fit.

I enjoy your statistics very much! I think it's cool to see whats on people minds lately. Keep them coming!

One not on the list that are one mine:

Mesopotamia -- This looks promising
Timbuktu -- From uber-rare to reprinted, just got mine today.
New Oltremare -- Pretty second printing
Ostia -- Still too little info
Il Principe -- Looks promising
Daimyo -- Shogun!, love this theme
