I know it's probably just a trademark thing, but a spacestation mat without a trench is just kinda meh.

Had a short quite moment at work and I bumped into this one.

http://www.hotzmats.com/felt_purchase_mat.html

Will have to look into it back home how things are handled (shipping/payment) as I live on the otherside of the pond.

I've ordered HotzMats to the UK, and from what I recall, shipping was fairly reasonable.

Be aware that delivery can take quite a while, as (at least in my case) he makes the mats to order, and with painting / drying time, that takes quite a while. I think it was 2-3 months before I received my two mats (4'x3' and 6'x4', both doublesided, with hexes on one side and squares on the other - but the grid patterns are very subtle, and don't ruin the space effect at all).

I've recently ordered one and it took about four weeks to deliver to germany. No hassle, went all very smooth and I like the mat. I will perhaps test my sewing skills to add a border to the mat.

Was it worth the wait and cost?

I actually disagree. I've been looking for a space station surface (Death Star) without trench.

Unfortunately, I think the chosen print with the large hard shadows like that and the big, in your face, semi circles, is extremely meh.

While I like the size of those being the "standard" 36x36, I've always had a slight distaste for GF9, feeling that all of their stuff was overpriced. These are no different.

Besides, I already have two 42x72, gorgeous space mats (one with 1.5" hexes, one no grid/hex) from http://corseceng.com/fabric-mats/. Yes, they were pricey, but they are very, very nice. I use them for SFB and (eventually) A Call To Arms: Star Fleet, and I see no reason I need to get a smaller one just because.

+1 to the long wait and you might want to add 0 communication. Not for those of a nervous disposition...

I wish these mats weren't so damn small. 3' x 3'? And they said they will release future varying sizes. Does that mean a decent 4' x 4' playing surface will be $50 U.S.??
Fairly disappointing, as they look absolutely lovely.
