Have just finished two play rounds and the one thing people kept asking/wondering is why the symbols on the player cards were called things like "spatula", "toothbrush" and "candle" when it was a picture of a "sword", "wand" and "fire". since we couldn't find anything in the rules we assumed they were mismarked and played them as swords, fire etc... were we correct or was this on purpose?

The cards are not mismarked, simply imaginative. Your spatula is a weapon, hence it has the sword symbol. Your toothbrush is your starting wand and your candle is your beginning fire.

It's tongue in cheek humor. Watch some Monty Python and all will become clear!

This is certainly a game where a quick read-through of the fluff will enhance the experience.

Nothing to do whatsoever with Monty Python, or any kind of humour ... it's all about a childlike imagination.
