I and my friends are new to boardgame. Now we're looking Strategy War Games that can play under an hour. Actually we have exactly 45 min for play this in our lunch time.

Our main problem is a limited time. So we're not able to play the very dept or complex strategy war game.

Anyway we still want to find some game that we can play in our lunch containing strong war/soldier theme.

I'm very appreciat for all of your helps thank.

ps.i apologize for my english. i'm asian. hope you guy don't mind its.

Welcome to BGG!

Could you leave a game with a small board unfinished and start another session during the next lunch period?

Wings of Glory: WW2 Starter Set would be a good game for lunch. you could also look at Wings of Glory: WW1 Rules and Accessories Pack but you would need to buy miniatures as well.

if you do not want miniatures you should still be able to pick up some cards from the wings of war series.

Please be aware that treading your toe lightly into the pool of wargaming is likely to end up as a lifelong obsession.

have fun

Good places to start might be the ATO Pocket Battle Game Series or the Victory Point Games Napoleonic 20 Series.

Both are very good, but setup time alone is fifteen minutes. If you can make them work in your timeframe they're a better choice because there's more variability.

I second The Battle for Hill 218, one of the series with Pocket Battles: Celts vs. Romans and one of the series with Lightning: D-Day.

I also suggest Manoeuvre. Once you know the game well, set-up and gameplay go pretty quickly and there is a lot of variation with the different armies.

Also 2 de Mayo is a cool asymmetrical game with interesting decisions.

Manoeuvre. Quick to set up and clean up, and plays in about 45 minutes.
