A "one hex ship" is dismasted with 15 sail hits like a "two hex" ship of the line? It 's convenient to fire at the sail of a small ship?

Generally better to fire at the Hull, even using the Small ship Fire table..

I suspected it, but it seems to me a little strange that to dismast a "Small Ship" it takes 15 hits as a "Ship of the Line", this thing puzzles me. The french ships lose one of their best tactical factors.

Although it takes the same number of hit, if you compare the damage charts, you'll notice that rigging hits accumulate more quickly against small ships than they do vs. large ships. So in effect, it does take fewer hits to dismast a small ship.

You are right Rob, generally one more hit and this make it a bit more convenient, but as Mark point out, with this rule is better to fire at the hull.
I try to re-read the notes of the designer.
