I know the information is hiding out there somewhere. I just got tired of looking.

What game tops your list for a single player?

Mage Knight Board Game is the only game I've played worth spending time on solo.

Ambush, Mage Knight, and Arkham Horror. All three top my list depending on what I'm in the mood for (tactical action/campaign , fantasy/puzzle, or atmosphere/story).

For solo so far I like Defenders of the Realm, Ghost Stories, and lately have tried the D&D game set in the Drizzt game setting. All have been good and I will be trying At the Gates of Loyang very soon since it seemed interesting 2 player (had limited opponents lately)

(removed my stupid typo, my book editor sister would be ashamed)

Three good choices.

Also consider Gears of War: The Board Game - great AI.

Any co-op game, basically.

Because that's essentially what they are.

Victory Point Games makes some great solitaire games if you can get past the components. A Blood-Red Banner: The Alamo, Nemo's War, and Toe-to-Toe Nu'klr Combat with the Rooskies.

I've been playing his solo variant of Notre Dame a lot lately. It's awesome.

Almost any tactical wargame of sufficient detail does well.

Big story games (like Europa Universalis) too.

Generally the things I like LEAST solitaire are the games
which were designed for solo (Ambush! and
Voyage of the B.S.M. Pandora being notable exceptions) - they feel
like puzzles one is meant to solve (usually optimizing probabilities).
They can be fun as co-ops or shared experience games though.

Dungeon Quest is fairly fun if random and deadly

Lord of the Rings LCG is a good, entertaining, 1-player if you manage it all with patience.

Mage Knight is phenomenal solo. Every other 2+ player game I solo, It feels
like I'm missing a major component. This thread reminds me I would like to solo Arkham Horror.

Two fav's here:

Chainsaw Warrior - I spent many nights to save New York. And sometimes I even managed to win meeple
Out of print and hard to get. And outdated, I have to add.

B-17: Queen of the Skies - a classic, and there is still a very active scene here in the forums! Roll your B-17 through 24 missions over Nazi Territory and bomb those railyards, industry complexes and U-boat pens! And try to survive!
