Looking to get something for my partner, who is a HUGE Sherlock Holmes Fan, having read all of the original stories and watched both Jeremy Brett's Series and the new BBC "Sherlock".

While something Thematically Holmesian would be really nice, the key requirements are some sort of Deduction, and relatively light.

Anyone have any ideas?

221B Baker Street. Would seem to be ideal for what you're looking for.

Letters from Whitechapel is a good deduction game.

For a 2player and lighter go with Mr. Jack

I got hold of Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective: The Thames Murders & Other Cases It's a real treasure (but I am trading it). See if you can get a copy of that- it's old but you can get them in good condition. Solo play works well.

Other than that... Mr. Jack has a Holmes character in it.

Also think about other things from that time; Letters from Whitechapel is a great one.

There's a reprint of Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective: The Thames Murders & Other Cases just about out, so I'd recommend that if you can wait.

You could probably find a second hand copy of Orient Express if you hunt around. Only comes with 10 cases, but it's worth, erm, investigating...

Sleuth is a deduction game that just got reprinted. It's basically Clue: The card game, but it has a Holmesian theme and feel to it.

Seconding both of these. I usually play 2 players, so Mr. Jack, Mr. Jack New York, Mr. Jack Extension, and Mr. Jack Pocket see the most play for me, but LtW is a great game as well.

Tx for letting me know Eric, I think my copy is now worth a lot less

I'm interested we all have the same general idea about the games.

I did think about my favourite deduction games and I can strongly recommend

Inkognito

It's not London or Holmes, but it is vaguely evocative of a masked ball in Venice around the same time.

(I think the game would sell better if it were re-themed at the Mardi Gras)

Only if you were planning on selling it. If you have the good sense to keep it and play it, it hasn't lost a bit of value. For a Holmes aficionado, nothing else can match it.

Well for something very literal there is the new Sherlock version of Cluedo, though I think as of right now it's only for sale in the UK. I really kind of want to try it myself!

This is BY FAR the best gift for a Sherlock Holmes fan. The fact that there is a brand new reprint coming out makes it even better.
