Subject: Interception, "Bravest of the Brave," and Retreat rss

Scenario: You are the attacker and enter a space containing enemy units and the enemy (defender) responds by intercepting your moving army with more of his forces in an adjacent space.

Can he then withdraw before battle using “Bravest of the Brave” if he does not like what he sees in your (the attacker) battle card if it is, for example, “The Art of War”?

I was thinking that, if you intercept, you cannot withdraw (or retreat), but it seems that withdrawal before battle and "retreat" using this card are different things. Not sure. Help, anyone?

Bravest of the Brave allows you to retreat (13.4.2) which is different than withdraw (12.5).
