BSG 317: Wood for Cylons

This installment of BSG PBF is the 317th (or so) regular game here at bgg. It will follow the format established by ColtsFan76. USS Wood was DD 317.

It will be a Basic Game with 5 players travelling to Kobol.

This game is by invite only. The waiting list is being maintained at the BSG PBF Wiki.

Invitees:

Invitees have 48 hours to respond, then we'll move on to other invitees.

Some particular notes, hints, suggestions for pbf play are here.

The Rules on how we will conduct this game:

1) SUBSCRIBE TO THIS THREAD.

2) All players must have their own copies of the game (this is an FFG requirement).

3) login at least once a day, preferably more.

4) Private communication will be by geekmail between me and particular players, all other communication will be by posting in this thread.

5) Geekmails MUST have a subject of "BSG 317 - Name: Issue"
Where:
- Name: is your characters name
- Issue: is the current crisis, action, or whatever the subject of the GM is about.
I need this info to quickly sort GMs by game.
I run multiple games to help the bgg community.
Please help me to help you!

6) To speed up the game, please use Conditional Orders (i.e., geekmail me what you will do if certain circumstances arise). CO's are particularly useful for interrupts, such as Evasive Maneuvers. I will not wait for rare occurrences (e.g., a player using a Strategic Planning on a basestar attack or a viper attacking a raider, or a player using his OPG) unless I have received a CO to that end, or if I feel that discussions in the thread warrant it.
- Standing Orders for CO's are below, unless you modify them in a GM

7) Please use the following posting conventions:
* Normal text for discussions.
* Italics for flavor texts.
* Bold for in-game moves and actions. I won't process any decisions/actions unless bolded in the thread or I receive them in geekmail.

8) There is no need to change your avatar to match your character.

9) You must clearly identify your character at the start of each post.
- Your Character's Name in Bold, or
- a Banner from here are best.

9a)If using a smart phone or other digital device that makes the above difficult, then please start with the line:

Bold: Name

(where you literally type the word Bold, followed by a colon and your characters name)

10) For flavor, a useful selection of character pictures is hosted here.

==============================================================

Standing Assumptions for Interrupts:

1) Pass on any you don't have, but don't tell the thread until almost finished to hide the fact you haven't got it.

2) Strategic Planning:
- Pass on Launch Scout if there are 2 or more Raptors.
- Pass on Cylon Attacks, Actions, etc.
- Pass on Viper Attacks vs Raiders & BaseStars

3) Evasive Maneuver:
Pass on EVERY use unless:
- YOU are in the viper being hit
- the viper is being DESTROYED
- the viper is shielding a civilian from IMMEDIATE attack

4) Calculations: **NB
- Pass on making Failed Cylon Attacks, Actions, etc succeed.
- Pass on Viper Attacks vs Raiders & BaseStars
N/A
5) Declare Emergency: **NB
- Pass if you are the Target of Admiral's Quarters or Airlock
- Pass if you played skill cards against Admiral's Quarters or Airlock

6) All Reckless Interrupts from Pegasus Expansion:
- n/a
**NB Calculations & Declare Emergency Discussion:
Conditions to use these are "rare".
Should I automatically "offer to use yours" when it'll make a difference?
By this I mean post to the thread you have one, (leaving the value unlisted).
Multiple offers may mean that current player will decide which one to use.
You can always rescind the offer if you'd rather hold it.

Or better: Get those Standing CO's in!

7 out of 11 invitees have responded already, 6 accepting (3 in each game) with 1 decline.

Of the 4 remaining invitees, 3 have not logged in since months (Aug., Sept., Oct., respectively). So I'm going to go ahead and invite three more alternates. If spots remain after the original invitations pass 48 hours, they'll get the spots on first come, first served basis.

Why not? It works for Star Trek. Think about it, the cylons build a huge Colony on the black hole hex, and expand from there. The humans start with 12 colonies on their hexes, and then the cylons wipe out most of them using Catan's barbarian rules, and then the Galactica head's west using Catan's American rules....

OR: USS Wood was DD 317 back at the end of WWI.

Third wave of invites going out soon.

It is now a "race", first come first served for invitees, regardless of when I sent your invite.

omabono chooses Roslin via CO's.

CptnFalafel: You can choose any remaining character

thenolte: Consider sending me CO's for your character.

thenolte: Your choice please?

neat: both games are at the "player 5 picks a character stage, and neither has posted yet".(Ooops, nope 318 is waiting on #4)

Hmmm, thenolte hasn't logged on in two days.

Folks: please log in at least once daily, preferabbly twice. Of course, away from keyboard / slow play periods will happen. A heads up for an upcoming weekend away or some such would be greatly appreciated.

Loyalty Deck:
4 "You are" cards are shuffled, 2 played into this game's Loyalty Deck.
Then 9 YANAC cards are added to the Loyalty Deck, and is shuffled.

All decks are shuffled, and I'm ready to start dealing things out.

If anyone wants to cut a deck, list a number from 2:n-1 for each deck you want cut. I will place that many cards from the top "under" the rest below. (Because some of my past games have started with 3 CAC's in the first jump cycle btw , so I'm tired of it being just my fault, I want to share some of this blame).

I've got a few errands to run this morning, back around noon EST. Not a huge window of time for any of you to get this and react, but it's a chance.

Size(n) Deck
19 Politics
19 Leadership
19 Tactics
19 Piloting
19 Engineering
10 Destiny
70 Crisis Cards
17 Quorum Deck
5 Super Crisis Cards
12 civie ship tokens
8 Galactica dmg tokens
4 cylon base ship dmg tokens

Did I miss anything?

Oh, any 1 deck or pile is only cut once, first come first served.
There are 12 decks/piles, so limit yourself to , oh, 4.

Back in 4 hours or so.

I don't need to cut any deck. If we have a strange card draw it's obviously the cylons who have tampered with the random number generator.

And since I'm posting a reply, I might as well post my starting draw.

Starting draw:
1 politics
1 leadership
1 engineering
