Thank you. I had not considered that. I will post another thread there shortly.

In the mean time, here are some photos of our dice, many of which are specific to ASL, ASLSK, and Squad Leader.

Standard 12.5mm (1/2") precision Backgammon dice:

Custom precision ball-cornered dice:

Merry Christmas Dave!

You realize that those Panzerknackern dice are NOT nutcrackers. They're meant for cracking tanks.

Order is packed and will ship within the next four hours.

Thanks heaps,

Chris

As long as they work on SUVs, too, I think I'll survive holiday driving.

Good morning Dan,

Sorry about that. We were planning to hold the sale a week earlier, after the MMP sale. But when MMP decided to run a second sale on Black Friday, we held off. Even then, we weren't sure we would go ahead until Sunday afternoon. It took the rest of Sunday to set everything up.

I removed all the PayPal code from the Blue Monday Sale post yesterday evening. (The code remained live for the better part of yesterday while I updated the code on the KitShop page.)

I just checked the drop-down menu and Add-to-Cart button for the backgammone dice on the KitShop page. It seems to be working.
http://asl-battleschool.blogspot.ca/p/kitshop-store.html

If you are still having difficulties, you can always request a pdf catalogue, and order by email.

Cheers,

Chris

Chris - Any chance doing matched ASL die sets?

What I'm envisioning is a set with a red die with white pips and a white die with red pips, and then a set with a blue die with white pips and a white die with blue pips (and other colors while your at it...).

(The sniper die is nice, but I'm not interested in the 'nationality' ones.)

Nice dice but I think the title 'affordable' is a tiny bit misleading...

Thanks for the suggestions James.

Unfortunately, casinos make up the bulk of the precision dice market, and therefore drive the manner in which these dice are produced. At the moment, acetate colours are limited to eight transparent colours, and two opaques (black and white). Similarly, the epoxy used to fill the spots is only available in white and black. If that ever changes, you can be certain that we would incorporate new colours into our designs.

You may want to have a look at these "semi-precision" dice. They might be able to do the colours you are looking for:

Thank you Jim.

The title of the thread is "affordable precision backgammon dice." When compared to regular prices of precision backgammon dice (i.e. ball-cornered), I believe that our dice are "affordable," or at the very least, more affordable. But I get your point.

See for example, the prices at this major backgammon dealer's site:
http://www.gammonvillage.com/backgammon-shop/backgammon-acce...

Precision dice are, by their very nature, more expensive than dice produced by a mould-injection process. Therefore, they will never be as "affordable" as the non-precision dice marketed by firms such as Chessex and Game Science. Precision dice are premium dice. Bear in mind too that our custom dice (those with designs on one or more faces) cost more to manufacture than standard precision dice. Each design entails a set-up fee, and some of our dice have as many as four unique designs!. See this post for an overview of the manufacturing process:
http://asl-battleschool.blogspot.ca/2011/06/what-precisely-a...

That said, I would contend that our 14mm "Tommy" dice are, if not affordable, certainly far more affordable than most precision backgammon dice found elsewhere. For instance, during our sale, a set of four (4) 14mm, custom precision dice was available for $22.00, or $3.00 less than a PAIR of 14mm (9/16") precision backgammon dice on the GammonVillage site. We therefore believe that they are a good entry-level set of dice for gamers looking to move to a set of precision dice.

Finally, I should make clear that we are not trying to compete with backgammon retailers. Rather we are trying to provide board gamers, specifically ASL and SL players, with access to precision dice at good prices. We have different lines of dice, each with their own price points. This will hopefully allow players to find a set of precision dice that fits their individual budgets.

Not everyone wants, and certainly no one needs, precision dice. However, feedback to date from endusers has been overwhelmingly positive. Many folks get a kick out of using our custom dice. Others swear by the plain Jane backgammon dice. Each to his own.

Once again, thank you for the compliment and the comment.

Chris

UPDATE

Stay tuned James.

If everything goes well, we should have precision white (and black) dice with blue, red, orange, pink, etc. pips available in June 2013.

These can be matched with any of nine colours of dice with white pips.

There has been a production delay with these dice. The powder for the colours is unstable during periods of high humidity. We should have these in stock in late August, early September.

Apologies for the delay.

Latest update re white dice with coloured spots is that they are due to be finished by 14 August. Our initial order will include 12.5mm white dice with red spots, blue spots, and green spots.

Unfortunately we had to postpone the black dice with orange, yellow, pink, etc. pips due to some inconsistencies with colour saturation.

Will post here again once the white dice arrive. Fingers crossed, they should be in stock well before the end of August.

Thanks for your patience.

Some of these dice have arrived.

All faces have pips. And unless otherwise *indicated, all pips are the same colour.

We will have these up on our blog Sitrep by tomorrow, at the latest. (You may also order by email.) They may be purchased as backgammon pairs, or paired with coloured dice.

We think that the red-spotted die looks great with a bright-red die. But customers are free to choose any colour.

Note, we are sold out of 12.5mm green backgammon dice at the moment (more arriving at the end of September.)

*We also have white dice (below) with blue pips on all faces except the one spot. The one spot is red. These are designed to be paired with some black dice that we hope to have available this fall.
