Good for him. Learning to shoot and hunt at a young age teaches kids valuable skills like self-discipline and patience.

He's looking real sharp in his 1940's fedora. He's got nerves of steel, an iron will, and several other metal-themed attributes. His fur is water tight and he's always up for a fight.

He's a semi-aquatic egg-laying mammal of action. He's a furry little flat-foot who'll never flinch from a fray. He's got more than just mad skills, he's got a beaver tail and a bill.

So does playing games with me.

"Daaaad, mooooove."

Though there's slightly less realistic killing.

Also, first read that as he killed his 10 year old. That would have been a much less fun headline.

Given their track-record, the GOP will probably vet it as a potential candidate for 2016.

Also, educates folks on where food actually comes from. My son will be taking hunter's safety this year - he hopes to go pheasant hunting next October in South Dakota.

Also, my kids have really taken a liking to Game as food - something I never had - which I think is cool.

Feel free to send any extra venison down to Texas, BJ, if you find yourself completely devoid of freezer space.

Until this moment I've supported the legality of hunting. Time to write a check to the Wisconsin chapter of PETA.

Not really picking a fight here with the question - but why do you say that?

For my kids - it was definitely an education to see the whole, Animal, shoot, clean/processing and then cooking.

Our food supply doesn't come from wild game. And only about 20% of caloric intake is from meat. It would be better to take them to a chicken house, beef processing plant, or better yet a farm planted with corn, soy beans, etc. while being harvested.

Whoa, thought you were living in Michigan for a second.

I know a dairy farm that grows their own corn for the cows to eat...

I am going to have to agree here that hunting in no way teaches kids where food comes from.

Food comes from factories. Unless you make a point of knowing where your food comes from it comes from a factory designed to get the most food out of the least cost. Animals are kept in cages and slaughtered they don't live a life in the forest until a hunter shoots them. Plants are genetically modified to handle poisons that are sprayed on them and usually super processed to make the food you eat. In both cases machines do most of the processing. This is nothing like a hunting trip.

I do support hunting though. Go out have a good time with your kid teach them to be a responsible gun user.

Well, considering we are walking through corn fields (and millet and soy and...) - they get that - with the additional bonus that when we clean the pheasants - they can see the corn/millet/soy in the gullet.

regarding the meat processing plant - while I can't speak for other kids - they are smart enough to draw the parallels.

However, I would argue that you are being a bit obtuse deliberately here and in fact, hunters have a much better understanding/appreciation for consumption/waste than the general public - all because they understand the whole process.
