When I was taught the game I was told that only blue and green tiles could be used in the Hotel area [blue], and that Yellow and green could only be in Casino area [yellow] and that the white area could be used for any color tile. But I could not realy find that in the rules. Am I missing something?

You were taught wrong.

Blue tiles must connect, I.E. start, at the blue entrance.

Yellow tiles must connect, I.E. start, at the yellow entrance.

Green tiles can go anywhere.

Opposite tiles can be placed in the opposite color area as long as there is a valid connecting path back to the correct color door.

while it is legal to place blue tiles in the yellow area (as long as it connects back to the blue entrance), doing so will prevent you from getting the bonus for filling that area. and same for yellow tiles in the blue area.

Every yellow room must trace a path to the casino entrance. Every blue room must trace a path to the hotel entrance. Every green room must trace a path to one entrance or the other. You score the hotel bonus if the blue area is filled with blue and green tiles. You score the casino bonus if the yellow area is filled with yellow and green tiles. It's legal to have a yellow room in the blue area, or a blue in the yellow, but that will nullify the bonus.

Thanks Randall. I guess you heard that we lost our playing area at Tullys, but so far we have been able to find some places to play

I hadn't heard, but I never knew why Tully's tolerated us so long. Third Place Commons is a better pace anyway. I miss the Seattle gamers.

We lost out because they declared bankruptcy and closed down most of their coffee houses and Redmond was one of them. Your name always comes up when Power Grid comes up
