Do 5 science cards of the same type get you 25 points in final scoring?

However it should be noted that it is impossible to get 5 green cards that are all the same symbol.

There are however several alternative sources of symbols including (but not limited to)

The scientist's guild
Babylon's Wonder ability
A leader which grants a symbol
The 3 Masks introduced in cities

Yes, this is how math works.

5 x 5 = 25

Not to be picky, but do you have a place in the rules where it says that 5 cards are 25 points? I only ask because the basic rule book seems to indicate that you score up to 4 cards.

RULES_US, page 6, 3 column, green text:

Note :
- the number of points gained is equal to the number of symbols squared.
- there are 4 green cards for each symbol, for a maximum of 16 victory
points per family of symbols.
- this maximum can be increased with the Scientific Guild and the Wonder
of Babylon : 5 identical symbols earn 25 victory points and 6 identical
symbols earn 36 victory points.

I hope this will solve your doubts

It stops there mostly because it's actually pretty hard to get more than that. It's a commonly-missed rule, but you can't have two copies of the same card in your tableau.

There are only 4 green cards (sientific) for each symbol. But you can increase to a scientific symbol of your choice with the Scientists Guild card. Also, if you play the Babylon and finishes the third wonder, you'll get an additional scientific symbol of your own, so technically you'll get that 5th scientific symbols.

With the Leaders expansion, you can also get an additional scientific symbol by having Euclid (mason tools?), Pythagoras (wheel?), Ptolemy (math tableau?), and also maximizes the way you compute scientific cards with Aristotle and Hypatia.

Now with the City expansion you can copy other player's scientific cards, but that technically will not add the same scientif symbol if you're planning to collect all of the same symbol. That's for another question.

Or, did I missed the rule?

Ummmmm actually this is for right now. As I noted above if you were some sort of super player (or your opponent's just really really sucked) you could indeed collect 4 of a symbol, the Scientists Guild, have the Babylon wonder, the leader associated with the particular symbol, and all 3 masks (assuming your neighbors had the right science cards) for 10 of the same symbol worth 10 points each for a total of 100 points. There is nothing stopping the masks from working with "of-a-kinds"

yeah, the Cities rulebook specifically states that copying a symbol from a building identical to the one you already have is allowed. So you can't have two Scriptorum, but you could play Scriptorum and mask someone else's Scriptorum.

This might be a bit overkill, but I've actually developed a simple web-app to determine the scoring of sciences/technology.

[geekurl=http://neilsutcliffe.com/7wonders]7 Wonders Science Score Calculator[/geekurl]

It also can take the Babylon wonder wildcard and work out the highest possible scoring area to assign it to.

great app.
but shouldn't you add a number list instead of check box for last item as you can have more than one such scientific resource ie. guild and wonder.
