In the opening paragraph on page 4 on the Generosity of Kings phase, the rules state that "Each player gives away as much of their cattle as they can." Does this mean that players must continue to bid if they have enough cattle to do so, or is passing truly optional?

Bidding isn't forced.

Means that he/she must NOT bid, even if he/she has enough cattles, right?

Yes. You could have ton of cattle and still pass.

Just in case anyone else wanted a source, Splotter directly replied to my email asking for clarification:

Quote:
Hi Kurt,

No, it's not mandatory to bid. The first player can even start by passing.

Best,
Jeroen

My thanks to Jeroen for the quick and clear response, and to Martins for the original correct reply.
