I was painting the SSU's Medvedi Command Squad yesterday when a question rose to my mind:

How many PPSh-48 guns does this squad have?

Usually each figure has one main weapon and then perhaps a limited ammo weapon (like a Molotov) and a close combat weapon (like knives or grenades). So looking at this 5-men squad you'd think it has one DPM-MG, one Power Tool and three PPSh-48.

But the weird, unique thing is that the mechanic has, as well as his Power Tool, a PPSh-48 tucked away on his back. So that would indicate he can use both weapons in any attack, bringing the total number of PPSh-48 in the Medvedi to four.

What do you think?

The mechanic has 2 weapons.

Dust Games / FFG are obssessive with model accuracy with this game. If you see a gun or a grenade on a model, then he has it.
For example, they issued an entire replacement squad for people who bought the first wave of the SSU specialist box because the observer squad did not have their guns on the models.

I may be wrong on that, but i believe the mechanic also does not have another close combat weapon. So the power tool is essentially his close combat weapon.
I never got to actually use it though. I've never been suicidal enough to put my expansive command squad in harm's way to try it and opposing walkers are usually not stupid enough to get close to it.

Yeah, I was about to ask the follow-up question of "why does the Observers don't have any PPSh-48 at all". Well, I guess that's answered, I'm just screwed.

The mechanic does have a knife and grenades on his belt, so I guess on a C combat he can use both that and the power tool at the same time. That is one skilled dude!

Ask FFG Loop. I sent them a request 2 months before they got their replacements and received 2 new Observers minis from them in no time.
