In normal movement you can move one and turn 45, move one and turn 45... why would anyone declare a special manuevre like a circle left. To me a circle left can be accomplished by a normal move so whats the purpose in declaring a circle instead of just completing a circle using normal movement.

Moves like "Circle" are declared only if a player is being tailed, tailing another player, or in a collision situation. So in any circumstance other than the three mentioned, a player would not declare circle but simply do a series of moves as you suggest.

Planes are limited to one fancy maneuver per turn, so if a player were doing a Wingover as part of a normal move, the player would usually say so to indicate is was his or her single fancy for the turn.

Typically players move their plane through all straight moves and simple 45-degree turns in silence but announce other things, such as “banking 4 squares.”

When flying at very low altitude, where collision with a ground obstacle is possible, it is common for all moves to be announced, even straights.

Thanks so much! We have been trying to figure out why anyone would declare a move instead of just doing normal movement all night! You are awesome!

You're welcome.

One more thing to remember, when being tailed or when in a collision situation, a player may only do a fancy maneuver if it is the very first thing the player does that turn.

If a player is tailing and reveals a fancy maneuver as their card, they may delay the maneuver by one or two squares, with 45 degree turns allowed, and then do the fancy.

In all these situations if a player reveals a non-fancy maneuver as their card, they can't later in the turn do a fancy maneuver.
