This is no-frills, no-holds-barred straight-up 9-player Werewolf.

And since I appear to have a lot of free time now, I want to try a few things out as Mod.

Roles:

Wolves(2) - they want to kill villagers.

Sorcerer - they want the wolves to kill villagers. And they get to look for the Seer using their magic.

Seer - Check someone for fleas...I mean, check and see if someone is a wolf.

Priest - Learn the roles of the deceased. Why the Priest got the job in the first place, well you'll have to ask him.

Hunter - Badass who can finish off a wolf. (But only at the end of the game for some reason.)

Villagers(3) That's what everyone wants you to think. But they get these random SUPER POWERS:

1 villager is a white hat whose role is revealed on death.
1 villager is a Tinker who looks like a wolf to the Seer and a Seer to the Sorcerer and a tasty treat to a wolf.

And those SUPER POWERS may be give to the same person since SUPER POWERS are random like that. (OK, enough with the annoying caps.)

Lynch Rules: here's where it gets a bit tricky

The lynch will be between 9AM BGG and 3PM BGG, exact time to be decided by the participants. You are expected to be on at lynch time. Here's why:

Lynch will occur after a designated time when no votes have changed for 5 minutes, or when participants agree to no changes in voting. Thus, sniping cannot occur.

If you do not wish to change your vote, you can say Lock vote. This is not binding, but if enough people "Lock" their vote such that the outcome is not in doubt the lynch will proceed. If votes change such that the lynch victim changes all "lock votes" will be discarded and should be redone if desired.

If that's confusing, just remember this: if you want to change your vote, you always can. Voter intent rather than picky little rules is what I am trying to emphasize.

Ties are not allowed. The lynch will continue until the tie is broken.

Votes cast solely to extend the lynch do not count (at moderator's discretion).

Conditional votes will not be allowed. Change your vote if you really want to since you will be online (right?).

As usual, votes should be done like this:

vote MunchWolf

and to change:

unvote Anonymouse512
vote MunchWolf

Game Ending:

The game ends when the wolves dominate the villagers in numbers (wolves win).
OR
The wolves are both lynched. (village wins)
OR
One wolf thinks he/she dominates but really the Hunter is right behind him/her. (village wins)

Other Rules:

Night orders will be processed ASAP - since you will all be online for lynch, should go quickly, right?

Players may PM each other player up to 5 times each day. Wolves may PM unlimited to each other. CC mod on all PMs.

First lynch will be Monday. Will start as soon as we have 9 players to give an extra-long first day. Sign up below, and when signing up indicate your preferred lynch time(s).

Not going to dignify that with a reply....oh, wait.

And I got here first, so you're just going to have to play now. (Was that a sign up or a taunt?)

Re: Short Game 9-player WW Sign up now!
eh ... not sure I'm up for playing a game again ... but reviewing the rules here are two reasons it's not for me (although this is not a message to discourage other people ... they should make their own decisions):

Quote:
The lynch will be between 9AM BGG and 3PM BGG, exact time to be decided by the participants. You are expected to be on at lynch time.

I like letting the participants choose the lynchtime ... but I prefer a late night lynch .. I really should be focusing more on work at work ...

Quote:
Here's why:

I'm not sure I see this as something which prevents sniping .. it seems more to encourage it. 5 minutes is a rather short time, and I can see one person vote, someone else vote retalitory, someone else voting .. etc ... 10 minutes seems a more reasonable window ... just my views ...

-Munch "hmmm .. maybe I will create my own short game after all ... as next week will be a slow week for most people" Wolf

This is a sign up!

I like the 'after lunch' lynch time of LOTR 12:30 BGG. a little later would be fine too.

A morning lynch time would probably be highly unpopular.

Some say the world will end in fire, Some say in ice. From what I’ve tasted of desire I hold with those who favor fire. But if it had to perish twice, I think I know enough of hate To say that for destruction ice Is also great And would suffice.

Results from lynches? Results from night kills? Both?

I wasn't too fond of the white hat amongst a 9-player game last time. Too much free information. Of course, I was a wolf, so I was obviously biased against it.

Hmmm...that's a difficult time window for me out here in the PST time zone. I supposed I could write a little server process that unvotes/votes every four minutes for six hours to give me a chance to get back to the computer. devil

Anonymouse512 wrote:

Oh, wait. You already thought of that.

Anonymouse512 wrote:
Nightfall votes are allowed but may be undone. In this case, voting nightfall simply means you are willing to proceed with the lynch if no votes change. If any vote changes, all nightfall votes are invalidated (unless the new votes don't affect anything).

If that's confusing, just remember this: if you want to change your vote, you always can. Voter intent rather than picky little rules is what I am trying to emphasize.

I sense that you're trying to provide a mechanism to speed up the game. A good idea. However, I also like the idea of a player being able to show the depth of her commitment by locking in her vote. If you're going to modify Nightfall in this manner, then maybe we should add Lock Vote as an option. Or call your version of Nightfall, "Twilight."

Anonymouse512 wrote:

You should probably still apply a time limit following the lynch. If I'm not around for lynch for whatever reason, I shouldn't hold up the rest of the gang.

Anonymouse512 wrote:

And I have a hard time getting some people to write two!

I have quite a few appointments next week, so unless it's an early morning lynch around 9:30 AM BGG, I'll probably have to beg off.

Re: Short Game 9-player WW Sign up now!
I've added Beowulf's "Lock vote" idea to the rules. Also added that ties are not allowed - forces people to make a choice, if it comes down to that. Of course, once the tie is broken the vote continues for at least 5 minutes.

The Priest is standard Priest - learns the lynch victim's and previous wolf vitim's roles each night.

I think the white hat is necessary to balance out the Tinker.

Hmmm....not too much interest despite the flexible lynch time and anti-sniping rules.

What is it? The required commitment to a time? Busy/away Next week? The weird Mod?

Any more suggestions are welcome.

I'm declaring 3 PM BGG as the lynch time as that seems to be the consensus. The game will end by Friday since there will be at most 4 lynches (Mon-Thurs).

Player list:

shugyosha
grinningpik
bowman
Rukasu
kuchick (tentative)
agnespoodle

Need 3 more to start.

Yes, after my hissy-fit in Lighthouse, I decided to come back. (Actually, more of a job thing - I've gotten to the point where I feel I can post )

I've learned from all of these other great games being played. I fully expect to reveal myself D1 (or is that get a message from the seer, I forget, exactly...)

I've only played the large 15+ player games. I thought a small one would be different.

Now forgive my inexperience, but there are no ties. Is there a situation where a tie is possible due to an even number of players?

Hi all!

I've got some questions for the Mod in his inbox, and after I get some answers, I'll be vocal about some stuff.

Until then, I'm not a wolf (thank God...I've drawn that the past three games) and I'm not the seer.

And I look forward to playing with/yelling at all of you!

And xandryyte, please unvote me. Ya big meany.
