Just what the title says, has anyone tried using the old Galoob micromachines as substitute miniatures in your squad?

sure, they have less detail, but the size of the small fighters might be pretty close (though the falcon is obviously way too small, plus you need all the cards and shwag that comes witht he falcon.

I have playtested some Wave 2 squads with Interceptors and A-wings using micromachines on the official bases (using a bit of sticky-tack), and a deck of maneuver cards in lieu of maneuver dials.

They're definitely playable and the scale for most of the fighters is reasonable. The Interceptor is very close, the Micromachine A-wing is slightly larger than the FFG one.

I didn't bother with the larger ships because the scale was way off.

I've been using the AT-ATs and AT-STs as mission objectives for land battles. They are near perfect to scale.
