So I was visiting my family over Christmas and brought my girlfriend of 5 months with me to meet them. At one point during the visit this conversation occurred:

Me: Hey guys, I brought Gloom with me.
Family: Awesome.
Girlfriend: What's Gloom?
Me: It's this hilarious game where you have this family and you have to make them all sad and then kill then off.
Girlfriend: Um...What? You KILL them?
Me: Yeah, you use crazy stuff like bushes...

Me: ...and poison puddings to make them sad and then you kill them.
Girlfriend: That sounds horrible.
Me: Uh...

Good times.

When I first heard the premise, my initial thoughts were, "It's like the Adams Family of card games" since the goal seems like a total 180 from usual.

5 years ago. Me, wife, 7 year old daughter:
Me: this sounds like fun
Wife: what is it?
Me: it's a card game where you win by making your family die in horrible ways
Wife: that sounds horrible! No.

3 weeks ago. Me, now 12 year old daughter:
Me: well, we could get Gloom
Daughter: what is it?
Me: it's a card game where you win by making your family die in horrible ways
Daughter: GET IT! That sounds AWESOME!

Wife still doesn't know Gloom is in the game closet...
