franjos will publish a new edition of Kupferkessel Co. coming at Essen fair 2013. There will be some changes so that the game can be played with 2-4 players.

Great news!

Finally got a copy of this recently, and we have been loving it. Will probably pick up the new version to play with the whole family.

Thanks for the scoop.

One of my wife's favourite games, I'd love to see a version of this for the ipad, it would look stunning with it's beautiful artwork!

Re: Re-print of Kupferkessel Co. looking for a new name
For Kupferkessel Co. is too much German I want to give the new edition a new name / title which would be useful in other countries as well.
If you have an idea for such a title please let me know your suggestion. If I should use your suggestion you will receive 5 free copies of the new edition and you name will be listed in the rules and/or on the box.

to set up a small contest.

Then you'd have the full force of BGG creativity working on a new name for you.

Looking forward to the new version.
Good luck!

That was my first thought exactly: Make it a BGG contest! You will get way more ideas than in this thread and the contest will be additional promotion for the game.

I received an answer from chaddyboy. It is to expensive for me to make a contest for the new name on BGG. So I hope to get more suggestions in this forum.

Honestly, I'd love to see the old name stay in place (without the "Co." maybe). If you really need a new name, please stay away from wizards and witches.

I can imagine the title involving something along the line of Quackery & Alchemy:

Quacksalver's Cures
Charlatan's Cauldron
Alchemist's Elixirs
Transmutation Brew
Sulphur Stew
Quack Shack

Okay, getting silly now. How about a combination of ingredients or utilities:

"Sulphur fruits & Honey roots"
"Arsenic & Candlestick"
"Willow bark & Tinder spark"
"Spider webs & Raven eggs"
Something like that.

Will the graphics be (exactly/almost) the same in the new edition?

Thank you for your suggestions.
The problem with an English title is that it might not work in German. But I will think about that.

Yes, the graphics will be (nearly) the same. There will be additional ingredient cards and we will have magic cards (action cards). The artwork will be done by Franz Vohwinkel.

Okay, less German but not English... Latin:

Pharmacopola means Quacksalver but seems a little too complicated. Maybe just Pharmacus (probably not actually a Latin word but it sounds like one). For plural this would be Pharmaci, I assume.

Or Veneficium, in German "Giftmischerei, Zauberei, Zaubertrank" according to my old Langenscheidt. Veneficus for the (male) Person (Giftmischer).

It was Günter Burkhardt´s idea. He has been there last year and thought that the town Glastonbury, the shops in the High Street, the history of Glastonbury and the myths about it would fit very good to Kupferkessel Co.
