A double treat at the Westbank Gamers this week! Aaron Fuegi was in town attending a computer convention and was able to free up some time to attend our gaming session. I've had the pleasure of meeting and gaming with Aaron for several years at Alan Moon's Gathering of Friends. Aaron is a pleasure to be with and is never, ever without a smile on his face. Many folks will recognize Aaron's name from his many rec.games.board posts and his operation of the Internet Top 100 list.

Our second treat was the attendance of Joey Konyha, a brand new member of our Westbank Gamers clan. Joey works at the local Boomtown Casino and is friends with Keith Canova, another of our WBGamers. Keith discovered that Joey was a 'gamer' and invited him along. The truly neat thing about Joey is he is very open to playing all types of games, from German style games, Avalon Hill style games and even miniatures. It's always good to have gamers who won't gripe and complain about certain games. Welcome, Joey!

ROLL CALL: Aaron Fuegi, Joey Konyha, Willerd Fann, Jon Comeaux, Jerry Maus, Lenny Leo, Bill Sanders, Darren Arnold, John Moore, Greg Schloesser

After picking up Aaron from his hotel, we arrived at the Bayou Bungalow for a meal of jambalaya. Then, it was time for some silliness as Aaron requested Quackshot, a wacky children's game which I received courtesy of Magnus Lundgren of Sweden. We were joined by Lenny Leo and Jon Comeaux.

Each player operates a duck which is armed with a bow. The object is to shoot arrows (plastic darts) at a group of monsters which are rotating on a platform in the center of the table. When a monster is struck by a dart, it flies out of the stand, usually falling to some obscure place on the floor. Of course, the object is to shoot only the monsters of your opponents colors, which is made all the more difficult by the farmer who weaves and bobs in front of the monsters, acting as some sort of bizarre shield against the darts. The last player with monsters matching his color remaining on the turntable is the winner.

If released in the U.S., the government child safety commission would have had a field day. Darts are flying everywhere, smacking folks in the face, eyes, etc. Protective glasses are probably a good idea! Add to this mayhem the flying monsters, and you have pure chaos.

The game's fun ... but it's no Loopin' Louie.

We played numerous matches before we adjourned to more serious gaming.
