When you open a building for the first time, by the rules, you choose in what order to populate the rooms.

Start with the rooms furthest from you. Populate the one by the door last.

This will prevent your survivor(s) by the door from being killed by extra activations in almost all circumstances.

Yep.... same goes for spawning on the edge of the map. - Spawn the location closest to your surviors last!

I think that according to the rules you're supposed to spawn the locations in the same order each turn.

Other points, some are repeats from elsewhere.
Granted, these are for the "play it safe" mode which may not always be possible

Also, keep track of the extra activation cards and which ones you have had already, then you can ignore some of these

Preferably dont open that door if it is your last turn and you are the last survivor to go. Zombies that spawn in the "door opened room" will move then an extra activation will eat you during the zombies...."Munch, Move and Multiply phase"

...try not to end your turn on a manhole cover (or two) unless you have had the manhole cards already.


A well armed Character (e.g. chainsaw) can go stand on the last spawnpoint without fear of getting an extra activation to save them moving onto the zone next turn giving them an extra swing/shot. Other spawn points are probably not a good idea to end your turn on

Dont search if you are the last player to take their turn in case its a Ahhh card (unless you know they are all gone or your have enough turns and a weapon to handle it should it appear). Police cars increase the risk of finding and Ahh card due to the continuos card pulling
