One of the things I likes about HeroScape is how many elements from different genres it encompasses: robots, dragons, aliens, cowboys, vikings, ninjas, Romans, elves, spies, wizards, etc. etc. etc. It's more than cross-genre, it's like "omni-genre".

I'm looking for other games that are like this: a game that feels as if the designers are trying to jam in as many genres as possible. Anachronistic, world-crossing overload! Board games, collectible card games, actually I'll even take suggestions of books, movies, comics, etc., whatever.

Thanks!

You can get this effect with some of the Dvorak decks, including this one:

For better or worse, you could achieve this effect with all the Munchkin sets shuffled together.

I suggest Alan Moore's League of Extraordinary Gentlemen graphic novels, especially the Black Dossier. It is omni-everything.

For The Win goes a bit in that direction, in an abstract kind of way.

Perhaps SPANC: Space Pirate Amazon Ninja Catgirls?

Oh god. Has this ever been done? How would you shuffle the cards?

Dungeon Fighter mixes up Dungeon Crawler and dexterity game in a very innovative and funny way. Just a kind of cross-genre but leaves room for more interpretation.

Preacher from Garth Ennis is one good example in the Comic Book Genre. It mixes up Horror, Fantasy and Western into a wild hellride with biting humor and a massive ammount of mercyless bullets.

Oh, not in Utica, no. It's an Albany expression.

There multiple RPGs that do such things in various combinations: Shadowrun (cyberpunk/fantasy), the Eberron setting for D&D (pulp action/steampunk/high fantasy), Torg (dystopian dimension hopping), Synnibarr (the craziest mishmash of nonsense ever).

Old school GURPS was the grandfather of omni-genre RPGs.

Typical adventure started with a caveman arguing with a cowboy and a robot about whether to sneak into the ruins of an ancient crashed spaceship guarded by snake cultists.
