Hello BGG,

not sure if this is the rightforum section but i give it a shot anyway... I am looking for a divisional level wargame which has two maps and a moderate to low rule complexity. I am thinking about games in the vein of Liberty Roads which i really enjoy. I asked in the liberty roads forum as well but there was only one suggestion Ukraine '44 yet.

Thanks for any help.

France 1940 has three maps, but they add up to the size of a single map, so that averages out, no?

Most of the AH classics (The Battle of the Bulge, Anzio
come to mind) are at this scale and size. All are very simple.

At a slightly more complex level, Der Weltkrieg series
includes a few two-map games, at divisional level, for WWI, though
most of these are being re-released in the Eastern Front combination.

Ardennes '44, two maps, in print, slightly more complex than LR.

Actually I recommended Ukraine '43 but Ukraine '44 works to!

I can't help but i can't get over the fact that those games are extremly ugly.

This is what you want: Drive on Stalingrad (second edition).

A44 is a good game, but not low-complexity. You might also try the brigade-level Iron Tide: Panzers in the Ardennes.

The Caucasus Campaign from GMT fits (most of) your criteria. Divisional level, one map though, but is very simple to learn. It was designed by the same guy who did Ardennes '44, so some concepts carry over.

And it's still in print, unlike A '44 which was just reprinted and sold out during the last GMT Fall Sale.

Does it have to be WWII? If not, then All Quiet on the Western Front fits the bill nicely.

Drive on Stalingrad (second edition) is an excellent game and fits your description exactly.
