Would one characterize this game as semi-cooperative?

If you play with hidden colors then it is semi cooperative with a backstabby element. Mostly the players work to burn the high point areas equally and try to keep the colors somewhat balanced without tipping their hand for what color they have.

My first game the color scheme was so bad I went the whole game thinking I was tan and doing awful when it turns out I was white and almost won.

I like the term coopetition. Race car announcer Daryl Waltrip created it to describe two racers working together until the very end of the race when it becomes every man for himself.
