Assault on the Helicarrier

Setup: 8 Twists. Add an extra villain group to the Villain Deck
Twist: Play the top 2 cards of the Villain Deck
Special Rules: When a villain escapes the city, it replaces the space in the HQ left by the KO'd hero. Villains in the HQ can be attacked.
Evil Wins: If there are 5 villains in the HQ or the 8th twist is drawn.

Re: Custom Scheme: Assault on the Hellicarrier
I suggest that a twist instead simply makes you take the left-most villain in the city and replace a card from the hero HQ. Seems a bit more direct and doesn't copy the twist mechanic from another scheme.

I agree. I tend to over think things when creating stuff, but this Scheme would fit well into the game without being overly complicated.

Nice.

Glad you like it

For the Title as well as the word Scheme - Percolator
For the words Setup, Twist, etc... - Futura-CondensedExtraBold-th
For the leftover text - Futura Medium Condensed BT

If you happen to have the chance to pop over to the Custom Masterminds thread I could use some constructive criticism on my Cards over there.

Have a wonderful day.

OOPS! I'm sorry. I updated the card a bit by giving it a B&W Mask beneath the text box, so it would be a bit easier to read. Forgot to re-post it. It's back up again, glad you like it

Posted this over in the custom card thread but wanted to bring it here to see if anyone else had tested this scheme and what their thoughts were.

Just tried 'Assault on the Helicarrier' in a 2 player scenario.
Set-up
MM: Loki
Villains:
Enemies of Asgaard
Spider-foes
Skrulls
Doombots

heroes
Black Widow
Hawkeye
Fury
Rogue
Thor

To put it bluntly we got our butts kicked. tried it twice and while we had a little better go the 2nd time it was still a butt kicking.
I think this scheme needs a bit of a tweak. I was thinking either, twist 1&2 (maybe 3) do nothing (or some minor effect) then work as normal or something else to slow it down. I think this scheme would be impossible with 4 or more players. (probably even 3). It just moves too fast. I like the mechanic just need to find a good medium.

I played this scheme 4 times so far (2-player mode). The first time I played it, I lost. The second time, I beat it, but the HQ nearly filled up with villains. Eventually, I turned the tide. I do like a challenge, so I'm happy with how it plays, but I didn't really put any thought into scaling the scheme for more than 2 players. Here are some suggestions to modify the difficulty:

1. Add an extra Henchman group instead of an extra Villain Group
2. Add 3 extra Bystanders to the Villain Deck

You could also try shuffling 3 of the Scheme Twists into the top half of deck and the other 5 into the bottom half of the deck.

I tried this scheme with the same selection of villains and heroes you listed. It was really difficult, but I beat it after 3 tries. What made it challenging was the fact that Loki and his Enemies of Asgard kept giving out wounds, which made it difficult to get a strong enough deck before the Helicarrier was overrun.

I tried the scenario again, with Thor and Fury replaced by Hulk and Wolverine. I beat the game comfortably after the 4th Scheme Twist, with about half of the villain deck remaining. The difficulty of the scheme is going to vary considerably depending on which combination of Villains, Heroes, and Mastermind you pick.

Has anyone tried reducing the number of twists? Would that create a more balanced win/loss ratio?
