-The “runaway leader” phenomenon, where one leader player gains an insurmountable net advantage, within a smaller #player total, even only two players, is generally curtailed by mass extinctions; low food rolls, which are the bane of the runaway leader. Runaway leaders can still happen happen by means of hand hoarding larger draws over multiple game turns, a phenomenon which is curtailed by having a lower, fixed #hand value that can't typically be surpassed.

-No player may never draw past ((#cards -1) == #creatures) number of cards in their hand, except for the one special case of drawing 6 cards into hand after having one's hand totally depleted. This will eliminated sail past hand hoarding, particularly at the last turn at the end of the game. Players may increase their present maximum hand size as the number of their creatures on table increase. When dying creatures reduces a players #creatures total, players are still allowed to hold in their hand that present number of cards; they simply cannot DRAW any more, until the number of cards in their hands falls beneath (#creatures +1) or further. Naturally, you cannot have less than 0 cards in your hand.

-A low food roll will eventually kill almost all of your non-fat tissue creatures. However, an extinction event where larger amounts of creatures die will leave that player with a greater fixed hand size, which they maintain past the extinction event, as a small, albeit greater hand “buffer” to begin their repopulating again.

I like the concept that each player has a maximum hand of #creatures + 1. I tried something similar (at each turn the maximum # of cards one holds is 6). However, I think that your idea is more elegant and fits the current rules more.

The expansion balances the game quite a bit, making it much harder for a player to build the uber-super-creature.
