Im trying to get hold of this and will probably only get to play via email as no one I know is into this kind of thing. Is anyone up for a game once I get hold of the manual?

From your comment I am not sure if you are aware that there is a way to play online.

Subscription is very cheap and some games can be played free I think.

If you don't get much response here ADB help co-ordinate PBEM as well.

And if you think you are only going to play online/PBEM, here is a PDF version of the manual:

Keep in mind that the Master Rule Book includes ONLY the rules (although an awful lot of them). There are no scenarios, ship descriptions nor SSDs.

You miss a lot of the flavour and background of the game without these parts which is why I have never bought the Master Rule Book, however there are a lot of people who have and are quite fanatical about it.

I have the hard copy of the Master Rulebook. Is there many differences between the latest 2012 electronic version? Is it a searchable version? I would love to play PBEM of this but need guidance along in how to do it.

Good point. You can buy SSD books from e23 also. The Scenarios are a different story though and I don't see them there.

I don't have the electronic version, so I'm not sure how much has changed (probably just errata) but I do know it is searchable.
